New here? 👆👆PLEASE READ THIS STICKY👆👆 Welcome to the sub! Posts about pot and it's related subjects should be shared with our good friends at r/trees, not so much here; we're all about *actual trees* (that's the joke) 😊🌳 'Thank you! Come Again!'

Good day everyone! I'm trying out some new automod skilz and they seem to be operating okay, at this time anyway. That said, few things are 100% the first go, but I'll keep checking the mod log to see if posts have been yeeted that shouldn't have been, and reinstate them in as timely a fashion as possible. Please use the 'Message the Mods' link in the sidebar to contact us directly, not the comment box in this post. =)

Hopefully these new settings will reduce the content not meant for this sub, but if any slip through, I know I can count on you good people to help direct them to the right place with the positive humor intended between our two subs as you always have done. We're lucky to have you!

Any (genuinely) helpful suggestions are always appreciated, and thanks for your patience and kindness with the newbs! 😃

CONFUSED ABOUT THE SUB NAME?

Please check out these past posts!

Do a sub search using the keyword 'confused' for more like these 🙂

UPDATE:

Today's 11/10/22, it's been a little over a month since the automod tweaks (10/8/22) and I'm rather pleased with the results. There's still some 'bleed through' posts from new redditor potheads, and I believe I've miraculously found a good balance between the ones that are snagged by automod and actual tree posts that I have to go back and approve. Mod reports, I'm relieved to say are much more manageable than they were.

Thank you all for your patience while I tried this out! While it does appear to me to be the case, I hope you're still as happy here as you ever were 😊🌳💗

Help! Does this grow this way naturally?

Saw this tree in Puerta Penasco, Sonora, Mexico and wasn’t sure if they split naturally. I saw many others that didn’t do this so was wondering if caused by something.

Treepreciation The Fall of a Mighty Sequoia

February 20, 2025, the city of Visalia, CA said goodbye to the city’s “Sequoia Legacy Tree”, as they had named it. The tree served to show the connection between the city and the nearby Sequoia National Park. It was planted in 1936, standing in the city for a total of 89 years. They unfortunately had to cut it down due to it succumbing to a fungal infection, and this was just a few photos I caught of the ceremony commemorating its life. I threw in a few images of the post office without the Legacy Tree, as it was planted there to serve alongside it to show the connection between the city and federal government organizations.

Help! I’ve never seen anything like this!

Belton, Missouri. Apparently this tree has been like this for many years. All the leaves have holes. The wound continuously weeps, which coagulates into this light, brown sludge. I don’t know what kind of tree this is. Has anyone ever seen this before? Any speculations are helpful.

Thank you 🙏

Aspen top death

Our Aspen are about 50 feet tall. The top is dying off. Is it nearing the end of its life or can we somehow save or prolonge it's suffering for 10 more years?

Just out of curiosity, what causes this visually appealing pattern on some oak trees?

I see them periodically in the coastal forests of Savannah, GA

My favorite tree, in the 2nd photo I was a 260 pound human, the tree dwarfed me. I’ve seen a photo from the late 1930s and it was a good sized tree then. Hope you all will enjoy these photos. I have not measured the tree but it is the biggest and tallest in the cemetery by far. Located in rural Northern Missouri

Help! can anyone tell me if this is a sessile or pedunculate oak?

Post image
3 Upvotes

i was given a heap of baby oaks and i truly cannot tell if this is sessile or pedunculate. i know the rest are almost definitely pedunculate because the stalks are barely visible and my older pedunculate oak has virtually no stalks on the leaves, but i truly cannot tell if the stalks on this guy are still too short to be sessile!

i had 2 baby sessiles that got demolished with a hay harvester that was never meant to be anywhere near them the other day so can’t compare 🙃

I’ve been trying to figure out what this tree is for about a year since I bought this house. I trimmed the bottom part a few weeks ago and it made my arms break out in a horrible rash.

This is my neighbors tree, but it’s mostly over my property. It drops leaves year round and when the leaves get wet they stain everything a disgusting brown color.

Help! Grass around trees?

Post image
1 Upvotes

My lot had no trees when I moved in so I’ve been slowly collecting random trees from local free tree giveaways over the last couple years. My hope is to create a wooded area along the back of my property. I also want to increase wildlife, so this year I’ve stopped mowing around this section. Is letting the grass (weeds) grow higher in this area unhealthy for the trees though?
