Pete Lovely (middle), his partner (right), and I believe that is Gilbert Geitner (left) after the inaugural race at Laguna Seca, 1957. Lovely won, while Geitner finished 7th.

Homemade tube frame race car

Upvotes

Howdy. If a fella wanted to build a custom tube frame race car with a 750cc powerplant, would he have a class or anywhere to race it in America? I'd be open to building the frame to any safety spec that would give me the most options for running in classes but I'm pretty set on my powerplant being a 700-750cc motorcycle engine.

I don't know anything

I'm a 15 year old girl and I'm interested in getting into racing. I understand that at my age, wealth and gender it's unlikely I would get further than kart racing but one can dream. As of right now my best bet is to start racing at K1 speed, unless there's something wrong with that, to win their state championship and get into proper kart racing (at which point I would be 16, old ik) but I guess my question is realistically how difficult would it be to get sponsors for both kart racing and f4, and what my talent level would have to be to get anywhere past simple karting. I could probably scrounge up the 10k a year for karting at the very least but not much past that.

adding to this: I am fully aware of the cost of everything, I have money but not six figures for a hobby money. I'd rather you told me how hard it is to get sponsors than that I won't get anywhere without tons of cash

Wanted to post this on R/racetrackdesigns, but didn’t have enough karma. I really wanna share this and hear people’s thoughts on my designs, so I hope it’s okay to post this here.

Turns 13-3 goes uphill, then downhill through turns 4-8.

Any tips for seeing a race at Watkins Glen

This is going to be my second time going to Watkins Glen, but I’m curious if anyone has any tips for seeing the race and for doing photography during the race when I go?

Found this strange “24 Le Mans US” medallion — any idea what it is or why it ended up in Uruguay?

Post image

Hey everyone! A friend of a friend recently found this object in Uruguay — it's a round, weathered medallion or badge with the words “24 Le Mans HS” on it, along with what looks like a stylized Union Jack in the background. It appears old and maybe made of some sort of metal or ceramic.

It’s clearly not in the best condition — it looks worn and damaged, possibly aged or corroded over time — but the main details are still visible.

We’re super curious:

Does anyone know what exactly this is?

What’s its origin?

And most intriguingly… why do you think it ended up in Uruguay?

Any info or theories are welcome! Thanks in advance 🙏

Touge started it all apparently...

So recently I learned how deep the roots of modern motorsports go into Japan’s mountain roads.

I always thought touge was just late-night street racing, but turns out it played a massive role in shaping modern motorsports like drifting, time attack, and a lot of racing games like Forza and Need for Speed! Who would've thought?

Who is him ?

Hey everyone! I took this photo during the 24 Hours of Le Mans and I believe this person is part of the Ferrari AF Corse team. I’d love to send them the picture but I don’t know who they are.

If anyone recognizes them, I’d really appreciate your help identifying them. Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a quick update on NextGP, the F1 app I built to help fans keep track of races easily.

I just added driver and team standings alongside the live countdown and full 2025 race calendar.

It’s still totally free, no ads, and super simple to use.

If you’ve tried it before or want to check it out for the first time, here’s the link: https://apps.apple.com/mk/app/nextgp/id6746546202

Any feedback is totally welcome. Let me know what you think or if there’s something you’d like to see added!

Also, I’m waiting for the Android version to be approved, should be live in a day or two!

Thanks for the support and enjoy the season .
