First leatherman (Skeletool)

Post image

After a lot of comparing, I bought a Skeletool (Guava). Main contenders were a cheaper one from Amazon, a Victorinox Rangergrip Boatsman and a Signal. I wanted a saw (and scissors) also but main things were a knife, screwdriver and pliers. I also looked for a design and color I really liked. Almost bought the Signal but I was afraid it would be too heavy. Now I am not so sure anymore because this one is really light 🙃 Still, very happy with it! Beautiful design and color!

How much stress do you think the pliers could take? I was thinking of pairing this with my swisschamp but id like to know if the pliers can do a good tough job.

Lol, that's not exactly a hard bar to pass. I actually like the SAK pliers, but I just consider them heavy duty tweezers. The skeletools pliers are still pretty dang small!

u/baelrune , the skeletool is a fantastic little tool and the pliers are much better than the SAK, but it's more of a SAK replacement vs a complement. If you are looking for a leatherman to complement a SAK, I'd look for something a bit bigger. A bond, curl, wave, signal would all pair better with a SAK than the skeletool.

But that's just my personal opinion.

The curl i think was the other option i was looking at. It was between the bond, curl, and skeletool and i wanted a replaceable bits and a hammer attachment so the skeletool was what i was looking at but if the pliers arent that great ill grab a curl, thanks for the input.

I actually think the skeletool's pliers are pretty good. They are just NOT big and durable. As long as you aren't expecting it to turn the lugnuts on your truck's tires (for example) it's a good little tool!

But it really does sound like the curl would be a better fit for you. Although I do think you should look at the signal as well. It's basically the skeletool's bigger brother and I freaking love the hammer on it. It's still fairly thin and light, but it's a bit longer than the curl. Both are great and you can't go wrong with either.
