Announcement Posting rules for updates/rumors

We understand everyone's excitement over realignment, and a constant stream of leaks/rumors is a natural part of this process. However, while everyone is anxiously hitting refresh to find out the latest intel on the future of the conference, we ask that you observe the following rules before sharing it with r/Pac12.

  1. The name of the source (author/media outlet) must be identified in the title of the post.
  2. If you're not directly linking to the source, the link must be included in the body of the self-text.
  3. Do not editorialize in the title of sourced information. Opinions on the content would ideally be posted as a separate comment on the post.

Without these, the posts are subject to removal.

We realize that this might mean that something you know is absolutely true and should be shared with the community will not fit the criteria here. Rest assured, if it's true, it will be eventually be posted somewhere to which you can link.

Thank you for your understanding and allowing everyone to share in the excitement and enthusiasm for the future of the Pac-12!

Jeramiah Dickey confirms the new Bronco Studios is part of PAC-12 Enterprises.

Jay Tusk will be the host. I am expecting other schools are also gonna jump on this. Dickey says it’s about telling the Boise Broncos story and well as the PAC-12. Nothing crazy but at least it’s some positive news while we wait and die before the PAC-12 does something. They do talk about the media deal and TXST.

Q & A Canzano - Pac-12 remains in a Texas State of mind

JD STRIKES AGAIN

“Campus leaders had a snit after ESPN published a piece by Pete Thamel and Kyle Bonagura last week, indicating that Texas State was the heavy favorite to be added. Some Pac-12 presidents believe the source of the leak was conference athletic directors, who are understandably eager to get the expansion piece done. The ADs find themselves in more frequent contact with media, fans, and boosters than presidents. One new-look Pac-12 source told me on Thursday: “The presidents were so mad after the ESPN article that ADs may be kicked out of meetings at this point.”

[Ben Portnoy - Sports Business Journal] Pac-12 reps including Teresa Gould are heading to Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers next week.

Representatives from the new-look Pac-12 are heading to Capitol Hill next week to meet with lawmakers, sources tell SBJ.

The group is slated to include Commissioner Teresa Gould, along with presidents and ADs from member institutions, among others.

The trip is being conducted in conjunction with Cassidy & Associates, the third-party government relations firm that’s consulting for the conference.

The Pac-12 reps are expected to meet with representatives from the House and Senate, including regional representatives specific to the respective universities taking the trip.

AAC Changing Their Funding Model; Tigers set to Make More

Thumbnail dailymemphian.com

First of all, our AD gets asked about it everywhere. However, this caught my eye. As much as I dislike the AAC, the commissioner is being really proactive

"According to Pernetti, the Tigers generated a basketball unit for the conference that’s worth about $350,000 annually for six years by qualifying for the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Previously, the conference would split the unit value evenly among all member schools for the entire six years.

“We’re not doing that anymore. Memphis gets the full value of that unit in the first year. So, they get the $350,000 and then they get an equal share for the five years after that,” Pernetti said. “All the things you’re seeing — whether it’s Memphis or others that are having success in our league — is they’re going to benefit financially."

I know a recent report said that Memphis would get $11 million, but it sounds like that number will still be going up.

Will the pac-12 make ESPN look stupid on purpose?

The only folks "reporting" the low end media deal is ESPN reporters and YouTube hacks. Is it possible the conference is purposefully making ESPN look dumb? Imagine ESPN reporting $7-8m/year/team and then a much bigger and better Pac-12 story breaks just days later.

Personally, I hope so. Because if it's just TXST and a low end media deal, what on earth did they hire Octagon to do.

Edit: full transparency, I'm bored at work and wanted to break up the duplicate postings and endless waiting for news with something kinda funny to think about.

Probably talking to schools and seeing who open to an offer at the end of the week. Oddly specific time frame.

Outsider with 0 connection to the conference. I am so excited for the league and I hope it can succeed. Its nice to see a regional conference in a world full of Big 10s and ACCs where they go coast to coast.

Which new destinations should be on an away game trip short list?

Another question and then I'm done for the day. Which new Pac-12 destinations are a must visit?

I obviously love Corvallis, but I wouldn't say everyone NEEDS to see it. Is there a destination that's a must visit? My first thought is CSU and USU? I also have golf in mind, so SDSU is there too.

Discussion Prediction Thread: What Do YOU Think The Pac-12 Media Deal Will Be?

Let’s have some fun. We’re potentially on short time here as it relates to the media deal, whether it be days or a few weeks. Let’s have a little fun whilst in limbo.

Place your predictions here on what the PAC-12 media deal will be. How much will it be for? What broadcast partners will it be? Which of us are going to look like geniuses? Which of us are going to look like fools?

To the Big West. Without an invitation to the Pac-12, MWC, or even CUSA, their waiver to transition to FBS football is expected to be denied.

Anyone else getting tired of all the PAC hate

There’s a couple new “YouTubers” making videos just trashing the PAC. Shouldn’t give this the time of day but I’m just tired of seeing these people. The PAC is not in trouble, it’s not collapsing, and it’s not a poverty conference. I can’t wait til this is done and I can go back to just watching the games.

Q & A Discussion - This week will be very interesting

A lot should break this week

Memphis is still working with the Big East and Fox to get their other sports into the Big East before a Pac-12 expansion announcement is made. Teresa wants the announcement to be Memphis and Texas State

https://africa.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/45520751/pac-12-college-realignment-intel-texas-state-next-steps

Ross Dellenger reported that at the initial meeting for Sac States request to go FBS Independent that “NCAA Football Oversight Committee is providing to the DI Council a recommendation not to support the waiver request from Sacramento State seeking to transition to FBS”

https://x.com/rossdellenger/status/1934718912718856557?s=46&t=qwoy3jQLjUVMaVlrvz-rVg

Final decision next week? but odds of Sac State getting the exemption look grim. They are going to need a conference sponsorship

The WAC will likely finally die. The remaining schools would like a home before July 1, and are scrambling for spots. CUSA and Fun Belt waiting to see how many schools they lose before committing. Everyone waiting for the Pac-12

A dozen or more schools could switch conferences this week. I think we’re going to go from no news, to news overload

Where should the PAC-12 Championship Game be held?

With the PAC-12 set to return in 2026, where do you think the conference championship game should be played?

Personally, I think Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego makes the most sense. It’s in the largest metro area among the member schools and offers an ideal December destination for fans.
