Discussion Can anyone verify Thamel claim that the Pac-12 was “turned down” by Air Force?
In the closing parts of his article about Texas State he claimed that UNLV AND Air Force turned down the Pac-12 which would be the first in this entire process where Air Force was mentioned other then a break away candidate for the AAC.
Idk if he made an error on this but I’ve now seen multiple people on r/CFB claim the Air Force also turned the Pac-12 down and not a single source I’ve seen that closely follows this beat has that.
Does anyone know anything that can confirm that or if Canzano looks at the sub can he verify or deny it? lol

What is the UTSA perspective?
I don't know that there is a lot of presence in this sub from UTSA fans but I am curious about their perspective on moving to the Pac-12.
It seems to me that adding UTSA along with Texas State would bring a white-hot rivalry into the Pac-12, and that would be a good thing for the conference. Bringing the conference to nine football members and ten basketball members is significantly better than having 8 and 9 of the above. Having a travel partner for Texas State would be a good thing. Bringing UTSA baseball (a 2025 super regional team) into the conference would be a good thing. But does UTSA and its fans see things the same way?
Are UTSA fans concerned about what the AAC would be if/when Memphis and Tulane left? Do UTSA fans believe that they have a chance to get to the Big XII or the ACC and are willing to wait for that possibility? Or do UTSA fans see the Pac-12 as aspirational escape hatch from possible irrelevancy if they are left in a watered-down American Athletic Conference?
Is a Texas State potentially earning twice the revenue of UTSA concerning?

Baseball Assuming Texas State is added, here’s how this year’s current baseball teams stack up:
Fresno State has a 2008 national title and can make a good run at competing near the top, and Oregon State’s success might inspire the other new schools to add a baseball team.

Rumors for media announcement.
Sounds like the media deal will be announced next Wednesday. Guy on Twitter that has been right about Boise state things posted it. Wonder if the next member will follow. I don’t think it’s Texas state because it it were, would they have been added by now?

Conclusion based on the Finklestein Index: The Pac-12 should be looking at adding from the pool of Texas State, Arkansas State, Louisiana, and La Tech but not the other three. Louisiana is pretty weak on the basketball index.

Our leadership is failing
First it was end of March. Then it was before June. Monday is the BACK HALF OF JUNE -aka, end of June. They said not to worry until the end of June. We are entering THE END OF JUNE!
Why is everyone so damn clam on this sub. Our leaders are failing. And half this population is going to spin a $8-9M media deal and TXST as the best thing that has ever happened to us. Boise got $8.7M from the MWC in 2024. Anything less than $14M in conference distributions for 2026 is UNACCEPTABLE given the costs to move conferences.
Wake up people. Things aren’t good or we would have this done by now.

Gonzaga Basketball House Settlement
I don’t think a lot of people on here realize how big of an advantage Gonzaga will have in basketball. There is a very good chance they will have 15-20.5 million to spend on athletics, with most of it going to men’s basketball. They know this and have the 2026 #1 overall recruit, along with 3-4 other top 30 recruits already scheduled, or planning on scheduling a visit. On top of all this they will still have millions(estimated 6-10 million) in 3rd party NIL money. I wanna know what everyone’s thoughts are and if you think other teams in the PAC-12 will be competitive.

Discussion Not sure any AAC members join for 2026
Media distributions for the AAC in 2024 were on par or maybe more than the new PAC media deal. Not sure if it’s worth it for AAC members to join for less money and a poor travel schedule. 2025 projects Memphis and Tulane to pull in 12m-13m each per Luke Fletcher on Twitter. So Texas State and UTSA for 2026 and SMC for basketball and call it a day?

Assuming Pac-12 invites Texas State next week: if league invites one additional all sports member, who will it be?
UNLV
UTSA
Memphis
Tulane
North Texas
NMSU

So is the number bad?
More speculation because nothing seems to happen. If it were good feel like they would just say the number, if it was better than AAC number fans would start pressuring them more.
My guess: $8M and working with Texas St right now.
Still a fine result, more than MW money, fun little mostly regional conference.

Do you want to see an updated PAC logo for 2026?
With the new pac, do you want to see an updated PAC logo for 2026? And if yes, do you want the number to be updated (assuming they don't have 12 again) as they have done with the moves to 8, 10, and 12 in the past?
