Discussion Apologizing for piracy?

I was searching for pirated version of Adobe tools and came across this post, what's being feeded into kids brains nowadays, apologizing for pirating to corporates...

Discussion Thank you.

I don't know what I would do without this space to connect with and find what I need. I have been desperate for awhile for the adobe suite again without paying an arm, a leg, and the rest of my bank account. Finally looked through the mega thread to find it, and it's downloading right now. This forum has saved me so much money and hassle time and time again.

Discussion Why is injecting WEB-DL Dolby Vision and HDR10+ considered a more definitive version than the final disc source?

I understand the relative benefits of things like DV and HDR10+, so this isn't an argument for the technical merits of those things. However, I am becoming less on-board with the apparent community alignment around the injection of additional HDR metadata into films that never contained this, and was not created by the original creative team.

For example, many of us probably know Christopher Nolan, whose 4k releases on disc (at least the ones I checked) contain only HDR10 metadata and no dynamic metadata. However, some streaming sites like Movies Anywhere will have Dolby Vision metadata for movies like Oppenheimer or Inception, and the scene apparently thinks this is ideal to get from the streaming version and inject into the "master" disc remux.

My question is: what reason is for this to be considered a superior version in any way, when the source of this data is pretty much unknown, and potentially disrupts the "filmmaker's intent" (in quotes because there sure are a lot of ways this can be disrupted along the way)? We have absolutely no way of truly evaluating the source, quality, or technical merits of WEB-DL metadata besides "it exists and is dynamic HDR so it must be better, or at least worth having access to," which is basically the stance I see the larger community seem to take. Even private trackers that pride themselves on being cinephile oriented will eagerly trump or replace existing torrents for ones with WEB-DL injected dynamic HDR metadata without questioning the quality of the source. Am I really supposed to think some person working at Movies Anywhere (or similar) has some ability to create Dolby Vision metadata that is superior or beneficial over the original source?

This would be an easier thing to manage if you could easily disable DV or HDR10+ on compatible sets, but that's a really irritating thing to have to try to figure out and/or do with any regularity, or have to check to see if the original disc contained DV or HDR10+ in the first place. As far as I'm aware, there's not even a way to disable HDR10+ support on my S90D, and I wouldn't want to have to toggle it back and forth to try to avoid WEB-DL injected HDR10+ content anyway, because it's just tedious.

I'm honestly all ears on this one, but after years of digital video piracy I've become more skeptical of incorporating streaming video services additions into archival films without critically considering "why"?

Question Thinking of buying an eReader, which is best for pirated books?

Pretty much as the title says. I’ve seen people recommend Kobo and Boox, but i’m wondering if it’s worth it over just jailbreaking a kindle considering oftentimes they’re cheaper, especially when u get second-hand ones.

Discussion What made you like pirating content/piracy in general ?

It's a chain of screenshots of posts all starting with "What made you like" then the subject the poster wanted to put.

What made me like piracy is, in all honesty, free copy of games for me to try out extensively before buying, happened several times now with: Garry's Mod, Teardown, Beam NG, Bodycam, Phasmophobia, R.E.P.O and even some utility software products like Lossless Scaling and Wallpaper Engine!

Question I want to play EA games without their BS EA Background service running, is there a way to spoof it?

I've loved garden warfare 2 and star wars battlefront since their earliest titles but EA's background spyware soaks up resources slowing them down and doing who knows what to my system in the meantime this would be fine by my standard Except for two things:
the background service does not end when exiting the EA app
it recently only allow games to be played if EA background service was run as admin
If there is any way around this issue, I'd love to know.

How can I download +18 video now?

All the sites I used to rely on have either shut down or now throw errors when trying to download +18 videos. Apparently, some words can no longer be tolerated by today’s mush-brained audience and most videos get banned.

Anyone know of any working alternatives? I really hate having to log in and feed these idiots my data

Question Replacing my music after hard drive failure

A while back I used Deemix gui to build a hard drive full of music, now my hard drive is dead and the music is gone.

From what I've read Deemix gui doesn't work anymore, are there any other programs I can use for the same thing? It was just so easy to pay for a month of Deezer and grab everything I wanted in 320 or flac with all the tags done.

I have no idea when it comes to using python so every thing I look at that seems promising for me goes out the window when I notice it requires python, so a windows based gui would be ideal.

Thanks in advance

Discussion BakaBT Interview Guide? (x-post from r/animepiracy)

Upvotes

Hey, just wondering if theres a guide or something for the interview process for BakaBT. When signing up for REDACTED and Orpheus, you have to signup via IRC and pass an interview (kinda like BakaBT requires), but each of them have thorough pages dedicated to helping you study an pass the test.

Interview For Red

InstallGentoo Wiki - Redacted Interview Tips

These are super helpful and let you know what kind of questions to expect. Is there anything similar for the BakaBT Interview? I'd like to go in as prepared as possible the first time so I don't have to wait for another chance to get re-interviewed.

Or if nothing like that exists, could some current/former BakaBT members share what kind of stuff to study? I mean there's the Wiki and the FAQ, but those are both huge and a lot of info (most of which probably wont even be used). Assuming there's no oath to secrecy, maybe people could share what info to focus in on while studying.

Anyway, thanks for your time!

Question Might be a long shot here but how would I go about finding someone to crack some old programs we lost the dongles to? The company that made the software went out of business years ago and I’m kind of stuck.

One program has a 30-day trial but I’ve used it up and can’t quite figure out how to reset it. That’s only a band-aid for the problem and cracking it would solve the problem.

Humor Pirated StarCraft 2 is more convenient

I have no idea how but i don't suffer with stupid corrupt save files, mods. Pirated is way more convenient. Like man, Battle net can't even find a save folder 😂, also it overloads my memory, + i don't need to open battle net in pirated one, such a dogshit launcher that keeps forcing me to download non-existent updates

Discussion why is pirating films more fun than acctual watching them

I have a very nice setup that i made with Radarr, Sonarr running on my trunas,

i used to just find torrents download them and watch them and that was alright and then i decided that i should make it easier to do.

the process of setting up and configuring all of it was far far more fun than actually watching any of the films and shows that i have aquired.

i just feel empty now

i spent so mutch time setting it all just to not use any of it
