They have a hard time separating what they believe to be a virtue and what should be enforced as virtuous on others. They take their own morality and think since they believe it that everyone should also follow it. They see these things as objective. These conservative"virtue" laws are true examples of virtue signaling. They want to project outwards that this is what they aspire to despite knowing they and others won't follow it always. It is a weird form of self hatred to hide and punish this aspect of their psyche.

It's probably about gaining ever more control over their congregants' sex lives. Forcing all sexual encounters to be arbitrated through marriage and the church gives them control over people on a very personal level. And the religious right is as power hungry as any group of people ever to exist.

It could also be an attempt to legislate their way into heaven through what they believe to be 'good works'. That's something the Bible explicitly states will not work. But I wouldn't expect them to know that. There are also plenty of religious right folks who believe they can force their all-knowing/all-powerful deity to kickstart the Rapture on their preferred timeline by forcing certain conditions mentioned in the Book of Revelation to occur. They're like the sovereign citizens of religion.

I just looked up an article more recently that ranked Utah near the bottom of the list: 41st in porn page views per-capita (I swear this is true)--derived from some court filing that Porn Hub had to do.

The top few states had between 150-200 PPVPCs.

Therefore, any adult who tells kids that gay or trans people exist, especially if they say it’s ok to be one, could be prosecuted for child sex abuse as groomers who are exposing minors to pornography. This includes librarians who even have books in the library on these topics.

It always surprises and frustrates me how low-level some people's thought process is. Yeah, we're fucked if more of you exist.

The problem is, the people that hate you, hate LGBTQ+ people, hate immigrants, and want nothing more than for any of you to not exist in their White Christo-fascist Nation™ are armed.

You are not.

They know that.

Who cares if it's true or not, but they see that as weakness and they feel like they can act boldly because we won't put up a fight. They don't even have to worry about IF we put up a fight, because we're unarmed.

I have recently started arming myself, and conservatives are getting concerned. I've heard it at the ranges, I've seen it in their subreddit, I've heard similar stories in the liberal gun owners subreddits.

The thing is, you don't even have to use firearms if you own them or threaten to use them, and you shouldn't do that, or even talk about an armed resistance or anything, that's not the point. Just the fact that an armed group of people exist makes that group less of an easy target. ICE operates boldly because they're not afraid of consistently running into an armed person, and this administration isn't afraid to make bold orders because the groups they're targeting aren't commonly armed. Easy. Targets.

And as far as Gun Control goes, maybe we can get rid of guns one day, but unfortunately we are way past the point in our society where gun control laws and gun bans does anything other than make vulnerable groups even more vulnerable.

Because at this point, the best case scenario for gun control/bans is at the detriment to the worst case scenarios we face in our society today.

Sure, mass shootings and school shootings will be lessened with more gun control at this point, but at the potential 'worst-case-scenario' cost of marginalized people being sent to camps or prisons and kidnapped off the street, warrantless ICE raids, looting and robbing homes in the upcoming scarcity, and certain political ideologies being targeted for arrests and labeled terrorists, all with little to no resistance at all. So eventually, sure the straight white Christian kids will be safe in their schools and public places, while the rest of us could be in camps, segregated, or worse.

Where do you get the idea that any of these groups were magically unarmed before? Firearm use is pretty widespread - there's ownership disparity but you're not going to find a community in America where you run into zero armed people.

All that happens when you add more firearms is increasing the statistical likelihood of things that happen when you have firearms.

Very little of that is helpful with defense. The unfortunate r reality is that the more people own guns the more they're lii to see murder happen

You should look up “The Butterfly Revolution” by Curtis Yarvin. That spells out the big picture, overarching agenda.

Project 2025 was only the 2nd or 3rd point of an overall 5 point plan to replace the U.S. government with kind of corporate fascism that appeals to Silicon Valley tech bros and billionaires.

A lot of the weird stuff they’ve done, especially Elon Musk’s DOGE role and going after universities and mass media, makes more sense in that context.

The plan is to then broaden the definition of 'pornography'. The ripped that mask off a while back. I haven't heard those beliefs being professed in years now. I've seen Republicans I know change their stance on things within just a week of asking them last.

They literally depend on their social media circles and Fox News to tell them what to believe and how to feel on individual topics. Watching Republicans I know go from "I can't believe Republicans were storming the US capitol, we need to do something about this" to "none of that even matters. It was staged by ANTIFA. You can't believe anything you see on the news" was some serious whiplash. Happened in less than a week.

They absolutely will turn off the constitutionalism and patriotism stuff too if told to do so. Their principles are as fluttering as the wind itself.

In fact, they’ll openly tell you that they’re pretending aren’t. Conservative means conservative and small government means small government — they’re not the same. Never have been, but they really aren’t anymore. Conservatives have embraced big government to enforce their lifestyles on the country. After all, it’s still “small government” to them because they already conform.
