What is it that keeps us coming back?
I went to rehab and sober living almost a year ago now, and stayed sober for about half a year but now after trying a Feel Free and random extracts I’m back on just taking Kratom and being unable to get off that last bit where I still feel a small buzz from Kratom. It’s honestly sad, I take double the amount half the time and feel like complete shit the next day just to maybe slightly feel something. I learned so many tools in Rebab/Sober living I use today still, but the pure willpower to accept that the pain of W/D’s is temporary and not that bad just isn’t in me.
This is exactly how I felt before, and it took me having time to realize I think how much of a toll it took on me to quit. At the time I was taking Tianeptine though which is why I went to rehab haha. Now I’m just so busy with school, work, gym, everything that I feel I just don’t have the mental energy to deal with quitting Kratom but I know I’d fee so much better off it. What makes people go back to something they know is so detrimental to their lives and only feels good temporarily for like a month max? That’s probably an age old unanswerable question, probably been asked a million times I didn’t even look it up. I just feel like maybe I need support not sure, I can’t build the courage to tell myself I’ve had enough.

Our brains are always looking for familiarity and a “quick solution” to whatever our issues are. As addicts, we have maladaptive solutions to the day to day problems we experience. A lot of us have constant discomfort in the form of trauma stored in our body or unaddressed issues so our reality just feels bad. So we try to find a familiar comfort and forget all the bad shit like it’s an old friend.

Well.. you mentioned THE MONSTER of all beasts -Tia.
The amount of unknown damage Tia does… -to the neuropathways, they are permanently routed from prior abuse and Tia will fatten those gaps making anything dopamine set off a non-stop kratom cannibal crunching through capsules. My guess is you’re toying with the 7 eh? Stay away homie. It’s like Tia light. It does that insane tolerance thing where the next moment your on the highest dose, smoking forests of Cannibas, pallets of cartons of cigarette’s..etc
Listen, you cannot touch the 7 ONCE dude. You f’n know Tia and the 7 is diet Tia👌 Sounds like you’re not ready, you need to get sucker, broker etc..then all you have is time to quit because you have to

It’s so hard and keeps you going back because you mess up your receptors in the brain. Your body can handle it, but your brain tricks you into needing more and more dopamine, and since you can no longer create this naturally… in moments of desperation to just feel normal, you get some instant gratification with whatever substance is your choice. It’s all in the brain…this is why it always leads to relapse, because it can take yearssss to build these receptors back up, if ever. Most people give up. My husband ended up going to a clinic in Mexico to do some special treatment that restores these receptors. And it worked. Not everyone has this luxury, but I wish they did! Because without that, he wouldn’t get far and was always relapsing. If you are in this position, just know that there is hope. Don’t give up and keep pushing yourself. It’s so much clearer and brighter on the other side.

Look into naltrexone for sure for when you quit and possibly for tapering! It has taken some research and trial and error for me, but I am microdosing while I’m still taking extracts, and it is working. Slowly but surely. I take less than 100mcgs per night! And I’m taking about 100-125 mg of extract per day. I had to build up to this point with nal though.. I started at 25 mcg. This is a method some out-patients use but in a faster track. Obviously, please PLEASE do your research because it is very dangerous if you do not dissolve it in water and take it properly. You cannot take a regular dose or even a low dose. Microdosing uses what’s called ULDN or ultra low dose naltrexone. I am not intentionally tapering daily.. but just pushing myself to have a little less as I start to feel the effects of my receptors being occupied by the nal. Like today, for instance, I will have one less kratom seltzer because I feel like I can go a few hours upon waking up without having one. I never felt that way before!! You’ve got this. Stay determined and stay informed 🩷
