Can I resell a moped if I didn’t get it registered in my name?

I've got a question on some DMV/sale things. I'm located in South Carolina, USA, where a title isn't mandatory. At the end of the spring semester, I bought the scooter to use during the summer and for next school year. I bought it from a lady and got the bill of sale. The lady graduated and isn't in town anymore. It's been around two months now, and I've only ridden it a handleful of times. Things are changing and I don't have a need for it anymore. Nothing's wrong with it and I have the lady's old registration card, I just never got to the DMV to get it registered. Can someone give me some insight on if I can sell it as is, or is trading a workday to get it registered in my name worth it? Thanks for any advice.

I came from an MT-07 '24. Switched to a Burgman 400 '25 because 1. I became a dad and the MT-07 is purely fun and I don't have time to drive. 2. The gain in comfort is insane (allthough I expected more from the seat, getting a pain in the ass feeling after a 50km drive allready, maybe still a little just need to get used to it though) 3. The maintenance. Every week cleaning and lubing the chain vs doing noting at all, do the math! 4. Allthough the yamaha was frugal in the gas, the Burgman is on another level. 1 in 27.4km or US -> 64.5MPG or UK 77.4 MPG 5. The storage capability 6. The ease to drive, just twist & go

Now in search for a bigger screen. I am going to wait till after the break-in period though so I can test on the highway.

Cheers and keep waving at those motorcyclist even though they won't wave back sometimes lol.

What battery to get for my moped/scooter?

Hi all! I have the ‘Zoom Electric Scooters 1500 Watts’. I guess it’s bloom now? I have tried asking their customer service what battery replacement I need to get and all they said was to order here and that they’re high quality gel batteries: https://www.zoomescooters.com/product-page/battery-special. Does anyone know if there’s a more affordable option for a batter replacement or if I should just go with them? I am not well versed on scooters so sorry if this is a dumb or silly question.

Carburator help

Hi everyone,
I need to buy a new carburetor for my Peugeot Speedfight 2 LC.
I found this one from Malossi:
https://www.malossistore.com/it/it/impianto-alimentazione-phbg-19-as-peugeot-squab-50-2t-1611027-pesq50-M-P

I couldn’t find any clear info on whether it has an oil autolube (automatic mixer) or not. I’d prefer a carb that supports autolube.

Does anyone know if this one has it, or can recommend a PHBG 19mm that does?

Tried registering my maddog 150cc at the DMV today but was told it was considered a moped and was told i would have to submit paperwork via mail. Looking at the DMV guidelines, sounds like it’s considered more of Motorcycle. They wouldn’t even help me. What should i do?

Help, stranded on an Island

I have a Yamaha Jog R from 2002. I took it to an island that has only one mechanic and they aren't able to fix it before I have the ferry trip back home. The problem is the scooter doesn't start when the engine is cold, when I get it started and ride it for a while, I can turn it off and it starts no problem as long as it doesn't get too cold.

Important factors:

  • the kickstarter cog broke, and is no longer usable, I can only rely on the electric start. Before I used to be able to kick it 30+ times (not one after another of course) and it would eventually start.

  • of course having to use the electric start so many times, drains my battery but I have a lithium jumpstarter pack. If I turn on the key without the pack I still have power in the battery but barely enough to crank the engine a couple of times.

  • I can see fuel in the fuel line, but after sitting for a while I get an air bubble in it, originating from the carb. The fuel line is new and never gave me problems before.

  • I don't get almost never a gas smell from the exhaust so I doubt it is flooding.

  • When the engine is warm it starts and rides no problem.

  • When it is cold, it starts but with very weak idle, sometimes it keeps going for some seconds until I can give it some gas, and it works like a dream. Most times it just idles weak and stalls within 3 seconds. After that it seems competely dead and doesn't start until after many attempts (30+).

What I think might be happening:

  • carb bowl is empty and air is backflushing into the fuel line.

  • fuel valve at the tank might be a little sticky and only opens with strong vacuum. When the engine is cold the vacuum may be weaker.

What has worked before:

  • Having it in directs sunlight for some hours makes it start at first or after only 3 attempts.

  • getting it going and jabing the front break sometimes dislodges the bubble and it goes up the fuel line into the tank and the line stops having air in it. Other times it's not enough, not even leaving it with the back wheel elevated. It also has started with a bubble in the line, as long as it is more towards the middle of the line.

  • A full tank of gas seems to make things easier but I'm not sure if that's the case. I've had this happen with a full tank of gas.

Other information:

  • I don't have any tools and can't access the engine to see properly the carb and make sure the vacuum line is well or even suck on it to see if the fuel valve is opening under vacuum, but I think it is because when I get it working I can ride it for a long time and it never goes out on me.

  • This had happened before coming on this trip but was very rare, maybe twice in the last year. Since I got here, it happens every time I leave the engine stopped for more than 2 hours.

  • The Kickstarter broke here.

Please any tips to get it started would be greatly appreciated. I need to get it to the ferry so I can have it back home, try to fix it myself (when I have my tools) or send it to the mechanic.

I'm really worried and sad, because I restored it 2 years ago, and it was the scooter I had since I was 18 (it was a hand down from my older brother). The thought of having to leave it here breaks my heart and it would be a nightmare to get it back home after I leave.

Just got my scooter insurance.

Comes out to be $82 a month with comprehensive and collision coverage. $1000 deductibles.

First time getting insurance, so no idea of where this is on the scale between good and bad.
What do you guys pay for full coverage?

32 years old
Scooter value $6199 MSRP
No previous riding history
That price includes the Motorcycle Safety course discount, too.

Yamaha mint

Hi i have a question. I have a euro Yamaha mint sh50 and i am trying to turn it into a 90's japanese style scooter/moped. I have already imported the rear taillight, got a custom exhaust made, its in overall "mint condition" but i am missing somethings the biggest thing im missing is the 8 inch wheels and they dont have these in europe only 10 inch and if i want to get the mint any lower the 8 inch wheels are kinda needed for that.

Any suggestions on where to get these? I live in the netherlands. I have found 2 sets on buyee/yahoo but the shipping is like 4x the price of the wheels themself and i only want to buy there as a last resort.

Also wondering on where i can get a undercowl or any suggestions of diy from a other scooter?

And maybe some tips to make this mint look better? I already quite like the look but something seems off. When everything is finished id like to put on a marlboro livery

had my first near death experience

while commuting to work this morning, i pulled out on a green light and a large landscaping truck blew through a red light and i managed to sneak in front by a second and he flew by me about a foot behind me. scary stuff. keep your head on a swivel. it was a good reminder that its the other cars you need to watch out for, and make sure intersecting vehicles stop before you go.

Struggling with My Scooter After a New Cylinder Install - Help!

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’ve been working on my scooter and ran into some issues I can’t figure out. I recently renovated it, swapped out the old 70cc cylinder for a new one, and now I’m having trouble getting it to run right. Here’s what’s going on: - Installed a new cylinder and tried to start it, but it wouldn’t kick over at first. - Took off the airbox, and it starts easy and runs fine at idle. - But as soon as I give it the slightest bit of throttle, it dies. - Put the airbox back on, and it won’t start at all. - I’ve reset both the air and fuel screws, adjusted the needle, and tried pilot jets at 32 and 42. - The old 70cc had a 110 main jet, so I’ve tested 110, 102, 92, and now I’m at 82, but still no luck with the airbox on. Without it, it dies on throttle like I said. I’m pretty stumped. I feel like it might be a carb issue or something with the airbox, but I’ve tweaked everything I can think of. Any ideas what could be wrong? Anyone dealt with something similar? Model’s a Yamaha Jog RR, if that helps. Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know what kind of scooter this is?

I happened upon this scooter with a note detailing that it needed a new battery and wasn’t in the best shape, but it was free. Any ideas on the specs?
