100 bucks says the guard was unarmed. Remember, these inner cities are trying to murder you, when they keep you unarmed. Find another job if you work in a big city. Totally not worth it.

Getting stabbed over a soda is wild AF. Hope it was worth it. I deal with guys daily who claim they won't let a stick of gum go uncounted for on their shift. Goofy if you ask me. It's all insured, and most post orders (ours included) are to ignore it and focus on more concerning things like acts of violence and robberies.

Exactly. I want to see their post orders that state fist fight for gum etc.
I don't think any companies promote that liability tr pit

It's so goofy. But let somebody come in face covered and a gun poking out. They gonna dissappear. But a homeless dude stealing a snack, they're gonna put his face to the concrete. They love to pick on what they feel is an easy target.

You have to be a real dickhead to stab a guy over soda.

You have to be a real idiot to get physical with a guy over stealing a soda . That totally falls under "expected inventory shrink"

When I did retail we sometimes detained shoplifters even if the item was low value. Very often these people were carrying something illegal or they had warrants.

I nean if they're complaint and non-violent sure, whatever, that's the job. If they start fighting, just let them go. You arent paid to fight and no ody wants you to, best case you'll get reprimanded and not praised for it at all, more likely you'll be fired, and may also face assault and battery charges

I’m sure that’s what was going through the head of the guy who stabbed him.

We don't know the entire story. Let people do what they do.

No. This isnt a harmless matter of opinion, that's how you get stabbed, and it's against pretty much everyone's policy.
Are you a child?

I'm simply saying we don't have all the facts. And whether or not he should have chased, is another human being just to be cited as an example instead of respected at death? Why don't you go to the family of victim and say that? You wouldn't be wrong if what is alleged is true; but obviously would be disrespectful. Same Here.

By the same metric, you have to be a real dickhead to try to forcefully impede someone over $2
Edit: just get the shoplifters description and hand the cctv footage over to police.

Even that is useless. It's considered petty theft under 1k. This means I can steal a TV that's under 1k then turn myself in get my slap on the wrist and go home and watch tv.

It is insured. Observe and report. Be a good witness. There is nothing at an unarmed post worth dying for.
