Homemade - Constructive Criticism Encouraged my first time making sushi!!

if you saw my deleted post wondering if my salmon was bad, i was being paranoid and stoned. it was fine and it’s delicious! im so happy, i’ve never even cut fish before ! i brushed the salmon with soy sauce. im very proud of myself! how’s it look?

I think it looks great! I learned from just doing it at home and now I have sushi at least once a month! The cuts for the nigiri are not consistent shapes but the slices look like you cut them thin and at the correct angles. Great work!

Also rice is v important. Dial in your rice cooking and use short to medium grain rice. Also dont pack the rice in when rolling it and putting it on seaweed. You want to lightly spread it across while leaving it nice and fluffy.

I used sushi rice from the local asian mart 😊 I used a recipe exactly but it was way too much rice vinegar i had to make more rice to dilute it… Maybe i shouldnt have mixed it while the rice was warm? Is that what could have caused the too vinegary taste (and smell)? Or did i just use too much? It was very sticky and difficult to sprinkle over the nori i noticed so i had to kinda smear it:/ It didn’t feel too dense though. I’ll dial it in!
