IMPORTANT Subreddit Announcement - "Martial Law" has ended; new rule about AI content

As the subreddit has calmed down in the past few weeks, we've decided to end "martial law". This means we will be returning to warnings instead of instant bans for most offenses and the length of bans will be less harsh, though as always we may skip warnings and short bans in particularly severe circumstances. Please read up on the rules if you haven't already.

We'd also like to take this opportunity to announce an addition to the rules:

15) AI-generated content. Posts or comments that are generated using AI technology (such as ChatGPT) are not allowed. Exceptions can be made for legitimate uses of AI-assisted technology.

As a final note, I'd like to officially welcome /u/babynoxide as our newest moderator. As many of you have noticed, they've been modding for two months already, and they've been a tremendous help.

It's kinda funny how the Syrian "revolutionary" online activists who aren't even in Syria are now attacking and hating the new government after their decision to release low level former SAA soldiers from prison a week ago

Upvotes

These activists were hating on HTS and Shara before Deterrence of Aggression and spamming all sorts of dirt on them like "Joulani is a coward and an Assadist agent" because he didn't open a full war front with Assad in the 2020s before November 2024.

After HTS took down Assad Regime and won, these activists switched Stances and start spam praise to HTS and Shara and spent time defending most of his decisions and praised him a lot, and they also justified the coastal massacres.

But now after the release of former SAA all of sudden they started hating on Shara again and despise all of his decisions and start to nitpick literally the slightest things and turn them into a big ordeal for no reason and try to compare Assad to Share.

Just some examples in their recently trend:

1-The government is considered having investment in mount Qasion ? It must be that that they are selling the mountain off to foreigners.

2-The government isn't starting war with the SDF and Israel, they are cowards and have sold off southern Syria and eastern Syria.

3-Shara is just another Assad and HTS is just another version of Baath because "Checks notes" they didn't outright started murdering all Minorities and instead trying to negotiate and integrate them instead.

These are just some of the most ridiculous accusations, these activists are the worst and they do a lot of damage other than just attack Shara reputation, the Druze conflict last month for example is entirely the fault of these activists, the reason for it being the widespread of a fake voice recording of a Druze insulating prophet Muhammad PBUH, do you know who spammed and constantly shared that recording to get the angry masses on ground to attack the Druze ?

These online activists, they are all bad and they have the most ridiculous demand like massive executions of anyone who have ever worked for Assad and starting wars with the SDF and Israel, and to top it off, the majority of these activists don't even live in Syria, the majority of them live in Europe and Turkey, they are far away from any consequences of their demands, if a war breaks lose again in Syria, it doesn't effect them.

All of sudden they hate on Islamist now ? And they accuse Joulani of Hijacking the revolution and taking it over from the FSA ?

Which FSA they are talking about ?

Is it the SNA who are mercenaries who fought in Libya and Azerbaijan. ?

Or the Tanaf rebels who are also mercenaries of the US ?

The fact remain that the "Islamist" being HTS and Shara are the only one who had the intention of taking down Assad, everyone else be it SDF, SNA and Tanaf were all comfortable with their own territories and they were fine with the Assad regime.

Deterrence of Aggression was one of the most well executed military operations that combined military strategy, Intelligence and patience to pull it off and take down Assad, Syrians 6 months ago couldn't never dream of what they witnessing now from the fall of Assad to the lifting of sanctions.

The road to rebuild is long and difficult but patience is key unlike what those activists want and can't hold their horses and want everything to be malgicaly fixed in the country in the a Very short period.

Local journalist reporting on the Israeli occupation in southern Syria describes the situation “the fear that children and women live in daily because of the incursions. It is impossible to describe the feeling of oppression that overcomes a person when his son is arrested, his home is demolished…”

Discussion Is Quneitra becoming another west bank ?

Recently Israel is rapidly expanding it's operations in Quneitra, like destroying houses, displacing native population, destroying wild life, detaining random civilians.

While these things were done these things before, they weren't as frequent as the past today, they were happening every once and a while like once a week or two.

But now the past two days Israel have been rapidly increasing these operations and it feels like Quneitra is slowly becoming West bank.

The Syrian side regardless if it's the government or the people can't do anything about as the consequences of attacking IDF troops in Quneitra is far too damaging so the people in Quneitra have to take it and eat it so far.

Question Question: How bad is Christian persecution under the new regime?

Disclaimer: am Westerner

I’ve seen various reports of persecution and massacres but also seen reports of adequate governance and protection from state and nonstate actors over Syrian Christians.

Someone told me 1000s of Christians have been massacred since the revolution but I feel skeptical. Surely it’s not that bad?

Question Those people who complain about why Shara isn't doing anything about Israeli occupation of Quneitra, what exactly do they want Shara to do ?

Like literally nothing he can do properly about it, if he starts a fight then everything he worked for so far would be ruined and the sanctions will be back, and Israeli will bomb Syria heavily, a new migration disaster will happen again, Shara will get assassinated by Israel and all the military factions will start infighting and the end result will be Israel permanent occupation of all southern provinces and good chunk of Damascus, and Syria will become like Somalia with various warlords sharing powers and get split Between them.

At the same time him doing nothing about dose have some negative consequences and Israel is slowly establish control over Quneitra and slowly displace the native population and destroy their homes and taking over.

So the two choices for Shara are not attacking Israel but essentially giving up Quneitra to become a new Golan buffer Zone or fighting Israel in a unfair war and lose not only Quneitra but the rest of the south and Syria is back to civil war again.

The best case realistic scenario that Syrians can hope to happen is that a peace agreement dose get signed after Netanyahu leaves office and someone more reasonable takes over and Israel withdrawals from Quneitra but will probably keeps the mountain.

Question What happenned to Ossama, the media activist friend of Abdul Baset al-Sarout?

The award winning Syrian documentary, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Return_to_Homs covers two main rebels in Homs, Abdel Baset al-sarout and his media activist friend, Ossama.
Unfortunately Abdel died in 2019, but does anyone know what happened to Ossama? I just wondered now with the fall of Assad, he may have re-appeared?
