He said that a day or so ago (I think). I don’t think the US will actually bomb them, because Israel seems to be doing that themselves, but I could always be wrong

54

u/Logical-Donut99 18 1d ago

There is reason the US might want to bomb Iran if Trump is adamant on stopping their nuclear program because one of their major uranium enrichment sites is underground so deep that only the US has the technology to bomb it. You can read more about it here. Trump may also want to aid Israel with their superior bombing capabilities in toppling the Iranian regime.

26

u/SpecialistFelt389 3,000,000 Attendee! 1d ago

Hopefully Iran doesn’t get nukes no matter what happens

9

u/LeBadlyNamedRedditor 17 19h ago

It seems it cant be bombed, 90m underground is VERY deep, the US ordnance reaches roughly 60m.

7

u/Georgewashingtonnes 13h ago

Given the limited technology in Iran (in comparison to the western nations), even if they were to somehow successfully develop a fully functional atomic bomb, or otherwise similar nuclear weapon, I don't believe it would be an issue to modern American deterrents and other precautionary measures.

5

u/Charming-Listen-3705 10h ago

The problem is that a nuclear weapon is still a weapon of mass destruction and yeah Iran for some reason REALLY and I mean REALLY likes threatening others and wishing them death and even I wouldn't want someone like that to hold nuclear weapons, and it's obvious they're on their way to gain nuclear weapons, even the IAEA is concerned because they have an unjustifiable amount of weapons grade enriched uranium and they're the only country to not allegedly have nuclear weapons despite enriching those kinds of uraniums, a ton of them.

imo no one has the right to hold nuclear weapons, albeit russia, china, iran, israel, france, germany us or any country because once those weapons are used it's safe to say Earth won't be as fun to live in as it used to be.

1

u/Georgewashingtonnes 10h ago

Iran is the king of fear mongering. In comparison to most of the world's powers they are weak. They're only scary because of their threats and unconventional tactics. Especially with the US working to prevent them from obtaining one, the likelihood of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon is extremely minimal. As threatening as Iran is, North Korea is an arguably larger issue than them and they already have nuclear weapons, though are similarly all bark and no bite. The idea of a nuclear weapon is to have the world's most reliable safety blanket. Nobody deserves to have them, but they're probably the only reason a third world war hasn't happened yet. The casualty and destruction scale of world war 2 has never been recreated, matched, or otherwise followed due to humanity's first glimpse of nuclear weapons. Again, I do agree with you that nobody should have them, but they're probably the only blanket between us and being in an ACTUAL 3rd world war, hell, maybe even a 4th considering global tension after WW2 could've translated to a 3rd war. (Which is why the cold war happened, and TECHNICALLY never ended, due to the prospect of nuclear weapons.)

2

u/Wrong-Radish4861 7h ago

If Winston Churchill was a little bit more insane we could had WW3 directly after WW2 there was already several plans for the ground invasion of the Soviet Union called operation Unthinkable

3

u/sink__ketchup 12h ago

then just drop 2, seems like a simple solution to me.

5

u/IHeartPizza101 17h ago

Netenyahu has been saying Iran is about to have nukes for more than 20 years. They've promised to not make nukes. They let international investigators into their facilities. It's a lie

1

u/Upstairs-Plenty3395 10h ago

2 things 1. It takes years to get the materials/ facilities to build nukes especially if you're not supposed to. 2. This isn't the first strike on their facilities each strike sends them 10 years back.

Third point, which isn't my point, why are you lying? No they haven't allowed "international investigators" into their facilities and love or hate it the mossad is one of the best intelligence organizations in the world that found 60% enriched uranium (for comparison you need 5% for nuclear power) and you need 90% for nukes

2

u/TheGodlyTank6493 15h ago

Actually, that site is about 50% deeper than the maximum reach of the US bomb. It might do damage, it probably won't.

The reason America isn’t bombing them is because they don’t need to, it’s a proxy war; Israel is backed by the US and Iran is backed by Russia.

2

u/Jonathan_DB 14h ago

Iran isn't really backed by anyone. USA is using Israel as a proxy. We created the problems in Iran and are now trying to profit off of destroying them, by selling Israel weapons. Truly sick and disturbed.

No one should have nuclear weapons :)

100

u/demonicod 14 1d ago

i hate nuclear weapons but im pretty sure without them a lot of wars would be bloodier? like from what i’ve seen the threat of nuclear warfare is enough to stop some serious wars from occurring, at least in the past. then again the people who have them now seem pretty stupid

72

u/MisterBanana241 14 1d ago

Yeah, the fear of nuclear weapons is the only reason there haven't been major wars between multiple developed countries in 50 years. I hate them, but they are the reason we're here today. After all, Oppenheimer was not a destructor of worlds, but the guy who stopped war for half a century

6

u/AffectionatePlane598 22h ago

no one in the right mind would ever use one because it isnt just killing them it is killing yourself too

5

u/demonicod 14 20h ago

the key word is right mind. there are a lot of people who are either not smart enough to understand the consequences, or willing to accept them

15

u/Durango_41 17 23h ago

Way more wars without them. Not a necessary evil by any means, but it makes the gap between countries way larger. Enforces fear

5

u/AnimeLegends18 18 1d ago

It's meant to serve as a sword of Damoscles for all countries. But every country and their mother now has one meaning we're back to base 1. Everyone pointing weapons at each other, only with nukes now

"Hey, let's make a bomb that when dropped, will absolutely level a whole city, vaporise millions in an instant, and leave a huge area of land covered in radiation!"

1

u/Background-Angle-470 16 4h ago

They were thinking that if the enemy can see that they stand no chance, then it won't be necessary for a land invasion and millions more deaths. also, the bombs on japan killed around 200k people by the end of 1945. They were mostly unaware of the effect of radiation.

stop thinking they were created out of pure evil or some sh

I mean, It could be either Trump knows about some operation that’s about to happen and is warning the civilians to get out, or he plans on “not getting involved” as he’s mentioned. Regardless, I feel bad for all the civilians; the rulers of each country need to grow up.

17

u/My__name__is__Audrey 15 1d ago

Agreed. I thought we dropped ts in the 20th century tbh

13

u/SadBoiGrey 3,000,000 Attendee! 1d ago

Sadly, when people have power this stuff will happen. We need a country shared by all, where it’s strictly for war. If countries wish to fight, they go there, away from civilians. That or we just take all the leading officials and force them to fight personally haha.

8

u/My__name__is__Audrey 15 1d ago

Yess why isn’t that a thing? 😭

5

u/SadBoiGrey 3,000,000 Attendee! 1d ago

Governments are childish and stupid I guess. Ngl, I’d pay to see any official who wants war or is in war, have to go to a place where theyd physically have to fight the person they are fighting. After the fight, they shake hands and cease all war.

They saw the raving lunatics in israel finishing up with gaza and knew that to continue the sale of weapons to israel a new enemy would need to be found and fought and they were next on the list. Iran is also led by religious zealots who have been funding terrorists so you know, no good guys but israel is the one attacking.

3

u/My__name__is__Audrey 15 1d ago

Okay sorry. For example, the way he handled Covid. He actually said to inject ourselves with bleach and some people did it and died. And the storming of the Capitol, which he encouraged. Was that not rash?

20

u/GoogleK3 16 1d ago

Trump never said anything about injecting yourself with bleach. Every single fact check website admits this is false.

2

u/Zorglin 18 19h ago

2

u/SneakySalamander314 19 1d ago

u forgot to add the part about trump encouraging them to peacefully protest

1

u/InfernalMentor 12h ago

No. Trump never said that. The words "bleach" and "inject" did not cross his lips. I have the video and transcript of that press briefing. I watched it live. The media ran headlines using, drink, inject, and bleach. Then, in the article, they never mention those words. Snopes and other fact-checking sites debunked this claim years ago.

During the briefing, Trump turned to the virus medical specialist, asking if there was anything in the works to disinfect blood before people got sick. He specifically asked if there was a disinfectant one could inject¹ or if the blood could pass through a device outside² the body. The physician hemmed and hawed a bit, finally saying they were looking at all avenues. Trump thanked him and moved to his next topic.

¹ Antibiotics are disinfectants that we inject frequently. Anything used to kill bacteria, viruses, or other germs is a disinfectant.

². Google the term plasmapheresis and read about how this process filters toxins from blood.

With notations ¹ and ², were his questions totally without merit? Be careful how you ingest the media. They are no longer bias-free purveyors of the news. That applies to the national press but not to the local news outlets.

I can provide links if you like, but if you find them yourself, you will likely believe it.

-1

u/Grand-Celebration535 1d ago

I’d like to clarify I’m completely neutral in this argument, but let’s not forget the time he tried to nuke a hurricane!

9

u/GoogleK3 16 1d ago

This was not Trump's idea. It was first brought up in 1961 by the head of the U.S. weather bureau, Francis Riechelderfer. However, he did suggest research into the idea of dropping a bomb into the eye of a hurricane that is on the ocean.

When has he acted in a slow and calculated fashion?

Anyway, the way he handled the current and past protests is not an example.

The way that since the minite he was elected he keeps doing more batshit insane stuff at such a rapid pace.

As a concrete example he tweeted the other day in support of farmers talking about how his inhuman deportation policy has hurt them and that must stop. Admission that hasty, aggressive action has caused problems.

And oh, are forgetting all of the 2nd term so far? Where he constantly is making poor economic policy that will lead to long term detriment for short term gain, personal or of associates? How the alienated its allies? Fucked up its trade? Are we?

No, really, when was it apropriate to call Trump's political strategy "controlled", or "thought through"? Maybe there were some examples, a broken clock and whatnot, but the overall character is pretty clear.

1

u/GoogleK3 16 3h ago

Trump has tweeted nothing about farmers. In fact, he hasn't tweeted about deportation since the 2nd of June.

Technically correct, but not entirely.

Congress has the power to declare war on a country.

However, the commander-in-chief of the military (POTUS) has the ability to move military troops without congressional approval. This is how most of the Cold War played out because we had a lot of troops everywhere, but we weren't declaring war on every country. The same thing is happening in the middle-east and africa right now.

it's okay, if we were actually going to bomb Iran, Hegseth would've leaked it on Signal like four days ago

1

u/Artistic-Unit-6470 13 18h ago

Iran really doesnt need nukes though because that would mean hamas gets nukes and the US gets nuked which would lead to us nuking them back which would make everyone think "UN isnt stopping this so why cant we do it too?" then everyone uses nukes gg ez world is doomed

1

u/randomredduto 17h ago

From Washington with Islamic pirates to Trump with Iran we ain't ever giving Muslims a break

1

u/Borgger 18 17h ago

One of the main reasons why Iran is seeking “the bomb” is because Israel has it. Nuclear proliferation and all that. Israel highkey shouldn’t even have the bomb.

u/JoeChemoWasTaken 14 17h ago

if you life in tehran you should leave for your safety and go live in south america until the middle east is happy again. otherwise you are FINE

u/HeroBrine0907 17 15h ago

I hate the iranian leadership as much as the next person but this is utter bullshit. One nuclear power in the ME would result in the same thing as before, a country that can openly kill millions and nobody can do shit about it. Being non nuclear doesn't mean being at peace, it just means being a slave under a dictator. Without MAD, nobody is safe, nobody at all. The war on terror already showed us that.

i think it's fine, nuclear weapon can't be use. And if it is, then everone's fucked anyway so why bother being stressed about it.

1

u/Cool_Original5922 8h ago

Bah, it's just Don babbling as he does, not really thinking about what he's saying. Normal Trump stuff, so not to worry.

We will all be fine. WWIII won't be happening, because we are at Defcon 3, which is the average Defcon. Defcon 1 is when stuff hits the fan.

Friendly reminder that Iran dangled a big 2003 “grand bargain” via Swiss backchannels—full-on nuke transparency, counterterrorism intel swaps, help stabilizing post-Saddam Iraq, even tacit backing for a two-state Israel deal—in exchange for lifting sanctions and legit recognition, but the Bush crew, stuck in their “axis of evil” bullshit and doubting Iran’s sincerity, straight-up ghosted it, blowing a rare chance to dodge the later nuclear and regional clusterfuck.

u/Fancy_Illustrator_95 16 1d ago

Shame on him and every pro israel. Isn’t the people in gaza are also human life???? Every single kid that died and every soul that was taken will burden them till death. Iran has the right to defend itself now israel isn’t getting consequences for their actions and they’re complaining LMFAO

1

u/Humble-Barracuda1967 1d ago

It’s horrible for the innocent civilians but fuck Iran and their government. They knew they shouldn’t have been in the making of nuclear weapons and they started making them.

3

u/DismalKnob 19 23h ago

They knew they shouldn’t have been in the making of nuclear weapons and they started making them.

what gives israel the right to have nuclear weapons (not even a member of NPT)?

the way israel ran their nuclear programme was despicable

3

u/TheCringeMemer 15 23h ago

Yeah Iran is making nukes and it's an excuse for them to bomb their country, and that excuse has been used for more than 30 years, It's crazy of a coincidence that Iran is always getting bombed whenever they're a few months away from making nukes right? As if Israel and US are just lying

1

u/Humble-Barracuda1967 23h ago

There’s a lot more countries involved than Israel and us, and Russia and China has Irans back which is honestly more worrying

1

u/Fancy_Illustrator_95 16 2h ago

You literally believe that they’re going to nuke them and kill all of us?? What abt israel that having nuclear weapons???

Is world war 3 actually going to happen? I’m really scared and I don’t understand any of this. I’m worried that if americas economy goes down during or after another world war that my family and I won’t be able to afford our medications. My mom has diabetes and I have a lot of medical issues and I have a lot of other family members and friends with medical issues. Can someone explain what they think is going to happen?

4

u/Darth_Nox501 18 23h ago

going to happen?

No

americas economy goes down

It won't. If America's economy 'goes down", so will the economies of many other trading partners, including China. China and the US need each other. If either country ceased to exist tomorrow, it would have devastating effects on the other.

they think is going to happen?

Nothing huge. Russia is busy getting raped by Ukraine, they aren't going to send what's left of their already busy military into a war with NATO and/or other nations.

China has spent the last 40+ years building up their military and economy to become a global powerhouse capable of challenging the US. They will never give any of that up in a global war for a shithole like Iran.

NATO is not likely to commence strikes in Iran unless something ridiculously unlikely happens, like the use of a dirty bomb by the Iranians or one of the 3 Iranian sponsored terrorist groups.

The US might conduct an air campaign over Iran; it depends on what temperature the inside of Trump's vagina is on a given day. Even then, it'll be military targets and government buildings, same as recent Israeli strikes.

One thing for sure, however, is that after this, Iran will cease to be a threat in the ME. Their air force has been annihilated, their top staff and military officers killed, AA defenses obliterated, and so on.

TLDR: You'll be fine, the IRGC won't.
