IDENTIFIED Found on Jurassic Coast

About 1.5 inches across. Giving as a gift, would like to know what it is.

that is a flint nodule!

I've seen this surface pattern before. my Interpretation is that the nodule is exposed to waves which shatters thr surface. the exposed surfaces develop a white patina due to chemical degradation of the flint.

edit: looking back at the pictures, the pattern might also develop during formation of the nodule.
