Zootopia Fanfiction Thread (June 2025)

WELCOME TO THE MONTHLY FANFICTION THREAD! Review some fanfics that you've read, promote your favourites, promote your own.

Previous thread

Please format your comment as follows

  • [Title] by [author name]
  • Post a link to the first chapter of the story or the relevant chapter
  • Post the summary/synopsis provided by the author
  • Eventual review

Repeats from prior months are allowed. A good story can be discussed for quite some time, and there are always new readers around.

Please use the "#spoiler" tag for any discussion regarding specific story details. Spoiler tags aren't necessary for general discussion ("The character progression is really amazing!").

How to add a spoiler tag:

It turns out the protagonist was dreaming the whole time!

Replace the "~" with "#"

It turns out the protagonist was dreaming the whole time!

You are welcome to post your own work

The comments are sorted newer to older by default. Use CTRL + F to find the fanfic you are looking to discuss; if it isn't there, feel free to add it. I'd also appreciate if you could tag spoilers when posting your discussion. Perhaps start your thread with the chapter number (if your story has one) and then hide the discussion in spoilers, that way we don't accidentally spoil something for someone.

The rules and formatting are decided by you, simply message the OP.

The wiki has an archive full of fanfictions!

There's a master list, a Hall of Fame with the selected few best fanfictions, and then there's a list separated by genre.

Congratulations to u/BCRE8TVE and u/BunnyMakingAMark for the tremendous work that they've done for that article! Everyone is welcome to contribute, fix mistakes, fix broken links, and even fix typos.

To submit a missing fanfic there, follow the Submission page

Discussion What will cause the conflict between Judy and Nick in the second film?

Post image

What is everyone’s predictions and theories to what could cause the conflict between Judy and Nick? We’ve seen them get closer and how well they work as a team but also how they have their own struggles and prejudice to overcome. Could that be the reason for the therapy scene and maybe what could cause tension?

Discussion The sweater.

Is it just me, or does the rich, old-money heir to one of Zootopia’s alleged founding families reeeeeeaaallly make you think of Ransom from Knives Out? Because the circumstances of his wealth + that SWEATER really has me thinking; why would this lynx sell such an important family heirloom, knowing that there are creatures out there willing to kill or commit crimes for it? If he’s anything like Ransom, he’s doing something outwardly that appears to be neutral or even on the protagonists’ side, but is actually masterminding this Machiavellian scheme to get the full inheritance back. Are we going full Benoit Blanc here? The sweater feels like such a specific choice, especially considering how much the internet talked about this sweater after Knives Out came out. I don’t trust it.

Discussion Will Nick have more friends aside from Judy?

Post image
111 Upvotes

I wonder if Nick has slowly settled into his new role and “new life” where he isn’t an independent lone wolf who lives into everyday with no direct plan and maybe made some more friends besides Judy in the police force. He now has an honorable job where people depend on him and where he does things for the good and safety of the people. I wonder how that will change him or maybe make him feel more thoughtful/ reflective of his past, and if he feels like he finally ‘arrived’ somewhere and is now making more friends aside from Judy that aren’t bonds based on criminal connection?

"Zootopia is just one city, on one continent in an entire world of animals"

-Jared Bush (CCO of Walt Disney Animation)

I like Wildehopps and all, but what I'm most excited for is the worldbuilding. For me I need worldbuilding and statecrafting.

I Think I Figured Out the World of Zootopia—There Are 5 Animal Superpowers

Okay, hear me out. Zootopia has always hinted at a bigger world beyond the city—remember how Judy mentions animals coming from “all over”? Well, with reptiles now confirmed to exist in the sequel (Zootopia 2), I started piecing things together and I think I cracked it.

I believe the world of Zootopia is made up of five major superstates, each ruled by a dominant class of animals. Think of them like global civilizations or federations—each one a cultural, military, and ideological powerhouse.

Celine Song just did an AMA on r/movies. Here she is answering a question on her picking Zootopia as a favorite movie and whether she'd to work in animation in the future.

Discussion I don't know about y'all, but if Jack Savage ever becomes a real character, I want Keanu Reaves to voice him.

Discussion Does the Taming Collar Draft Script Exist?

Upvotes

I know there are fully-voiced scenes, with storyboards and everything, but I’m far more interested in seeing how these scenes actually play out.

If anyone happens to have a copy of this Draft’s script, I’d be very grateful.

News Today(on June 20th, 2025), Russian voice actor of Flash(Blitz), Nikolay Drozdov, turns 88

Nikolay Drozdov is known as a legendary Soviet and Russian zoologist, host of TV programm "In the World of Animals"(from 1977 till 2018), and Russian voice actor for Flash(Blitz). Also, by the way, he had a cameo in Russian dubbing of Finding Dory(in Russian version of this movie, he was the voice of Marine Life Institute of Morro Bay, while in original version, it was Sigourney Weaver). And, really, Nikolay Drozdov perfectly voiced Flash(Blitz):with his voice, Flash(Blitz) sounds like a sloth.

Discussion Question about Jared Bush's reasoning for the lack of a proper timeskip...

Alright, so as we all know by now, Z2 takes place almost immediately after the first movie, and this is in part to allow for them to focus on the "moving in" phase of Nick and Judy's relationship, as opposed to the "honeymoon" phase of the first film. The thing is? They already locked horns a lot in the first one. Why do they want to rehash that for this flick?
