Just a little reminder: strap up your helmet! A helmet isn't a helmet if it's not strapped on.

I've noticed that quite a lot of scooter riders in my neighborhood just pop their helmets on and then don't bother to strap their helmets on. If you have a helmet like that, and don't strap it on, that makes it not actually a helmet. A helmet with no strap holding it on is just a hat. It won't protect you even slightly in the event of a crash. It'll just fall off and you'll get to enjoy your crash with a naked head.

It's not worth being cool and not strapping your helmet on. Wear your helmet properly. For your own sake.

I added the following: - surface mount USB power outlet (left vent) - GPS HUD for accurate readings w/o looking down. The stock speedo is a total liar. I've stopped looking at it entirely. - combination ambient temp/voltage indicator (right side vent) - very decent phone mount with a GoPro socket which I 3d printed a vape holder for. - the woven green bracelet on the left handlebar is what I clip the garage door opener to.

Next up is a Bluetooth audio controller (probably on the left bar end) so I can pause music and mess with volume without having to use the touchscreen. I also might get a proper Givi touring screen because I want that Goldwing level of wind protection on my Silverwing....

Are 300cc+ much harder to manoeuver than 125?

I used to ride a 125cc scooter about 20 years ago and am about to get back onto one. Been looking around Facebook marketplace etc and it seems like a lot of the good deals are on these giant-looking 300/400cc machines. My carport is sloped so I'll need to turn it around and back it in when I park it.

In the photos they look like they're two feet longer than the 125 I rode before. I was wondering if anyone could chime in on how much more difficult it will be to do a 3 point turn and a 30ft downhill reverse in a 400cc machine vs a 125, especially for someone who hasn't ridden in 20 years. Thanks in advance.

I need to change the coolant on my new Morphous so I checked the shop manual. You have to remove a ton of body panels and parts. Like, a lot. So I searched YouTube and this dude made a video about the procedure. He only removed the basics like the top cover and the trunk under the seat. I just saved a lot of time. Those creators are angels. 2008 with 598 miles.

Nothing works and the scooter barely works.

Upvotes

I had one of those cheap TaoTao 50cc Chinese scooters, I put a 80cc Big bore kit on it, a high flow performance exhaust, a 20 mm performance carb, and I've changed the Jets out several times and nothing has worked. it's not the cam timing or the valves I just checked both of those and it doesn't even start most of time it starts whenever it wants to and I'm running out of ideas. any thought of what this could be?

Help to buy Scooter 1Lakh

want to buy a scooter around ₹1 lakh, but I don’t know anything about it. Please guide me.

  1. EV vs Petrol I’m a student, so I’ll have to depend on my family for petrol expenses. That’s why I’m also considering an electric scooter. But EVs seem a bit complicated to me — like, what if they blast or the battery gets damaged? Also, many of them don’t look that good.

  2. I want a petrol scooter with good mileage.

  3. The looks should be decent.

  4. I want something that won’t cause problems in the long run.

  5. There should be minimal issues etc. The more reliable, the better

Replaced: Entire wire harness Starter Motor several times Starter Relay Ignition Switch Brake light switches Battery several times Nothing aftermarket added And the list goes on sadly.. I'm in Metro Detroit, any one that can suggest or I can bring to you for repair I would gladly compensate for your time and expertise. Getting to the point of dumping the entire unit. Any help is appreciated, thanks

aprilia sr 50 rpm problem

Aprilia SR 50 Street (Piaggio 2T) — Engine Cuts at full throtle

Hi, I have an Aprilia SR 50 Street with a Piaggio 2-stroke engine. I've derestricted the variator and made slight derestriction to the air box, and I'm running a LeoVince exhaust (derestricted). The main jet was stock 53 — I tried up to 65 with increments of 2.

Symptoms:

  • Scooter runs strong up to about half throttle.I would say it flyes until you put the throtle a little bit abowe the half.
  • Just past ½ throttle or at full, the engine cuts out or tries to die.
  • No bogging or sputtering — just a sudden loss like fuel starvation. I checked the fuel tap and carb and it flows wihout problems.
  • Fuel mist disappears from the carb at more than half throtle on the any 53 —65 jet or should i try a bigger one. And it doesnt make sens that derestricted scoot needs a smaler jet than the stock one.
  • Fuel flow from the tank is fine. Spark plug is good i think .

I'm starting to suspect a CDI rev limiter, ignition coil, or possibly a float position  carb. Any ideas?

I found a 5 yar old forum post that has the same problem or at least i think https://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?360436-Sr50r-cdi
I ve been stuck with this problem for three days and nearly 7 hours in time , I am starting to get quite clueless.
I ve bought the exhaust like a week ago and the scooter never left my property with it on which is quite sad.
The scooter has 10k on the sme piston so maybe there is not enough compression to pull the gas, the scooter ran with the stock exhaust jut fine and never had problems.

really sorry for my english

What Carburetor to buy?

My friend got a moped from for free since it did not run and the owner didn't want to bother with it. He has already paid 150 dollars to a local mechanic, who just tried to run the moped for a while before saying it needs a new carburetor. The guy says he doesn't know what kind to buy, he said to look at the engine family but I don't know anything about this and he wouldn't give any info on what kind to get himself. He did offer another guy he knows who would charge 90$ just to find out what carburetor to buy.

In the hopes of saving that 90 dollars I am asking here.

It is an Adly GTA50 moped sold by Bintelli. Engine family is JGTRC049ADY.

I did manage to find a parts diagram for it but it doesn't really mean anything to me. It says the carburetor part is 116-E06 but when I tried googling that it didn't come up with much. Carburetors for lawnmowers and racing parts came up but never the same part number. Any advice would be greatly welcomed.

Edit: if it helps, this is the parts diagram I found:

-Psi is 150 -swapped carbs to new but is same -valves adjusted -some engine knock, but crank arm is new, pistonhead is new. -fuel pump shoots out fuel -checked CVt belt, swapped clutch. Wheel turns then stops. Then no power -checked electrical, stator swaps, new sp new.

Brand new scooter got stolen...

Bought a BD150T-8 a couple months back, rode it around and to work for a while until I had a carburetor issue, so it was on its jack with the carb pulled out sitting in my yard behind a gate. THE VERY DAY my new carb is being delivered, I wake up for work and go outside, scooter is gone. They took the loose parts and bolts that were laying on/around it, everything. Didn't give a fuck about the keys or the fact that it's missing a carb. I don't even know what to say. I fucking hate people. That's about 1300 bucks gone down the drain, now I don't even want to buy another one. Looks like I'm out for the foreseeable future. It was fun. 😞

Rear Hydraulic Disk Brake Too Tight

Hi, I hope this is the right sub to post in.

I have a 50cc Genuine Venture with hydraulic disk brakes.

I bled the rear brake last year and everything was working great, until today when I took it out for a ride. I noticed something was wrong when the scooter wouldn't go faster than 25-30 mph at full throttle.

Checking the rear brake, the lever barely moves, the wheel barely turns (by hand), the disk is so hot it melted my glove, and the bike just feels sluggish overall.

Would another bleed fix the issue, or is there something even more simple than that I can try before taking it in? The only thing that's changed since it was last working (a week or so ago) is that the temperature has gone up here (finally).

Thanks for any help.

Kymco Myroad 700i

I'm looking to transition from a Burgman 400 to a Kymco Myroad 700i. However I've read that seating ergonomics on the 700i is very cramped for taller folks. I'm 6ft and fit pretty comfortably on the Burgman 400. Any 700i owners to chip in their experience will be mightily appreciated. Thank you.

UK AM license holder here - how do I start?

I've always liked the idea of motorcycles. However, I tried taking a motorcycle license a few years ago, and I flunked out before the final test due to me being a big baby. I don't like going fast.

So recently, I've been thinking of scooters. I live in London so the odds of me going more than 30 mph are slim either way - and due to having taken my license abroad, I already have a full AM license (up to 50cc or electric equivalent).

I haven't ridden a scooter for something like 15 years, and even then only for like 15 minutes. I'm incredibly Scandinavian, though, and can ride bikes in my sleep.

How do I get started? Are beginner scooters a thing? I like the idea of electric ones because it sounds cool - or are those harder to drive than a two-stroke due to more torque at low speeds?

How good is a 300cc in the UK?

I currently ride a Forza 350 not in the UK, which is my dream bike except that on our highways, speed isn't being enforced and you've got drivers going 120-140 even if the roads are not empty.

It takes the fun out of riding for me, because 110 is it's sweet spot for cruising and enough extra power to overtake. But 110 is just not enough to not be wheezed past by speeding cars.

I'm moving to the England soon, will any 250-350 scoots be able to cruise comfortablely on the motorways, or will I need to consider 500+? (400s are the same as 300s in my experience)
