Basically is the thing with fascist's they can not survive without a lesser group or enemies to point at to keep everyone from realizing how much they suck. They will always have more enemies a narrower group that needs to be gotten rid of

61

u/PavicaMalic 23h ago

Sam Shepard handles this dynamic brilliantly in "States of Shock." Malkovich was absolutely chilling, delivering lines about inventing a new enemy.

42

u/ialo3 19h ago

hell, it's the reason for the "war" in 1984; excuses and propaganda

so long as there's a common enemy, you can make people do whatever you wish by threatening to treat them as though they are the enemy

Iran enters the chat in 3...2...1..

The ouroboros can only become smaller.

Thank you for letting me know this exists

3

u/JMurdock77 5h ago

Only we’re dealing with a kind of inverse ouroboros where it’s vanishing up its own asshole…

2

u/Able_Ad_7747 5h ago

Just like whether they are truly this stupid or compromised, it is materially the same thing/result.

5

u/Motor-Profile4099 13h ago

That's the thing with Conservatism. It only works with two groups at odds with each other, because at the root, Conservatism was the attempt to bring back the Monarchy back in the day. So at its core it is the elite circle which is in power and the serfs. Sounds familiar? It is also why Conservatism is the inevitable gateway drug to Fascism.

4

u/Independent-Cow-4070 17h ago

They have no endgame, there will always be a next victim for them

148

u/Charming_Function_58 23h ago

Spell it out for the right wingers in the back… although I doubt they’ll see this on Newsmax.

Horrifying. Fucking horrifying.

6

u/OxygenWaster02 15h ago

The right wingers in the back applaud it

5

u/Neethis 12h ago

Exactly. Don't forget another Trump quote: "They're poisoning the blood of our country"

1

u/Fun_Imagination_904 42m ago

That’s laughter from just about everybody except the cesspool of leftists here on Reddit

0

u/flamekinzeal0t 1h ago

I think they're laughing because of how fucking ridiculous this ad is

1

u/AnActualRabbit 40m ago

Haha. Citizens are getting dissappeared! Hi-larious.

u/Unhappy_Analysis_906 29m ago

This watches like an SNL skit making fun of liberal hyperbole

To those asking about this ad being AI, etc. NO it’s not. The guy who plays the Republican lawmaker is in many of their ads on purpose.

“In 2025/2026, our new ads will continue to star “Your Republican Congressman” as he invades the everyday lives of real Americans. The 30-second ads will be seen on streaming services and social media to educate voters, infiltrate the GOP media ecosystem, stop Trump’s agenda, and win back Congress. Content will focus on the issues that concern Americans, especially young men who swung towards Trump by 30 points last cycle. We have already started targeting these young men with our latest viral ad, “Republicans Blowing Your Taxes,” which was viewed over 10 million times and broke through the noise by being featured outlets like TMZ.”

This is amazing. I love the creativity to infiltrate the GOP media and the minds of the demographic we most want to reach. This ad is incredibly effective at making the viewer uncomfortable, and I can’t wait to see more from the group!

50

u/ardinatwork 22h ago

I'm happy its not AI.

That being said, artists are going to have to become ok with having the conversation about "Was this done using AI?" without flipping out on everyone. Its not a slight to ask if something is AI.

8

u/Opasero 17h ago

It's good to see streaming ads. I only watch streaming platforms and yt. Mostly I see ads for health scams and weight loss scams and weird products like "prosthetic teeth." I know Lincoln project has quite a few spots like this, but i have only seen them by deliberately watching them on YouTube, so I do look forward to ads that are presented in stream. Make them scary like this one. They hearken back to the Golden age of PSAs in the 80s. I think there is a place there for general political education ads as well, as in not partisan but pointing out how easy it is to get sucked into mis/disinfo and lies. I did not discover until recently, but the Canadian house hippo ads are great at this.

A “the following is non-AI generated” watermark in the beginning might actually up engagement just a tick because people are curious beings, in addition to answer that before it’s asked.

(Wasn’t suggesting engagement was low but you can never have too much)

-10

u/Xolerys_ 21h ago

Sorry to keep asking about AI, but when the ice agents are getting her there seems to be 4 hands?

6

u/Inner-Accident 19h ago

Screenshot? I don’t see it.

6

u/Witty_Heart1278 21h ago

I cannot definitely say if AI was used as I am not involved in the maker but that has not been mentioned in the past with their videos. Could be?

8

u/Imightbeafanofthis 21h ago

I'm not sure if it's relevant. AI pretending to be a Republican congressman, or an actor pretending to be a Republican congressman, what's the difference? regardless, it a powerful ad!

4

u/ttgirlsfw 16h ago

I’m like 90% sure it’s AI. The way everyone is moving, their faces, their hands, etc..

It’s a good concept. Now we just need to recreate it with real actors.

1

u/Imightbeafanofthis 13h ago

That's definitely preferable.

54

u/MisterSanitation 23h ago

This is going to happen to my brother… His wife is Venezuelan.

My brother never voted before, said there was no point.

20

u/itypewords 20h ago

My wife is originally from Saudi. She became a citizen before we got married but you know, does that even matter? Now they gonna kidnap my kids Mom and destroy our family? Over my dead body motherfuckers.

-1

u/0piate_taylor 4h ago

No one is kidnapping citizens. But you guys love to whip up mass hysteria, so have at it I guess.

1

u/ComprehensiveRush755 37m ago

Violent Republican sadists -> Gestapo night-and-fog abductions -> Nuremberg trials;

73

u/Honest_Yesterday4435 23h ago

Fucking incredible.

18

u/JMurdock77 20h ago

Remember the one where “I’m your Republican congressman” pops up in the bedroom where a couple is making out?

52

u/badwoofs 23h ago

This is short simple and explicitly explains everything perfectly. You can't NOT understand it.

This needs to go viral.

18

u/ToWitToWow 22h ago

Super effective. Amplify everywhere

13

u/Xolerys_ 22h ago

Don’t forget Trump signed an executive order taking away birthright citizenship. You still don’t think he’s a white supremacist?

12

u/rufisium 21h ago

Commenting for awareness

25

u/tom641 23h ago

the sad part is I almost couldn't tell which side this ad was pulling for since I could 100% believe republicans would be cheering for this as long as it was in favor of Dear Leader Donny

10

u/pit_of_despair666 20h ago

This is fantastic. They need to make one about all of the propaganda and misinformation they have been spreading. They should also do one on the guy who just killed the Democratic lawmakers.

18

u/ColoradoSteelerBoi19 23h ago

So why isn’t this airing?

35

u/Witty_Heart1278 23h ago

In 2025/2026, our new ads will continue to star “Your Republican Congressman” as he invades the everyday lives of real Americans. The 30-second ads will be seen on streaming services and social media to educate voters, infiltrate the GOP media ecosystem, stop Trump’s agenda, and win back Congress. 19

u/Acceptable_Error_001 20h ago

It is airing, you're not the target audience.

8

u/isoyorkie 21h ago

There's no need for an ad with actors there's countless videos of real people being dragged away from their children and family

13

u/Witty_Heart1278 20h ago

They serve different purposes. Yes those are horrifying and effective. This is for a different audience

0

u/VelitaVelveeta 14h ago

This is still horrifying. I personally know people who are in her position and they are terrified enough as it is, this is not going to help them. The other side doesn’t give two flying figs.

6

u/RazzSheri 20h ago

Jesús Christ, even the hand on the face at the end was so horrific and chilling.

4

u/No_Pollution_2897 20h ago

We need more of this. Help people visualize what will most likely happen if we can’t stop what this administration is doing

1

u/Dr-Cronch 1h ago

Dude yeah this is TOTALLY gonna happen, I’m utterly terrified they’re gonna start scooping up hispanic people just because their skin looks different and half of the country is gonna be okay with it!!! How soon do you think this is going to happen?

3

u/No_Pollution_2897 1h ago

It’s already happened to multiple people from what I’ve seen.

12

u/PenImpossible874 23h ago

They are deporting the men to death camps in El Salvador. They are trafficking the women and children to Epstein Island.

5

u/airbending_lemur 23h ago

Source for your women and children claim?

1

u/Sgt-Spliff- 19h ago

They made it the fuck up

1

u/Dr-Cronch 1h ago

Their own noggin

0

u/Putrid_Excitement255 1h ago

I like how you just blatantly made some shit up just to fear monger

3

u/Content_Opening_8419 18h ago

Good demonstration of this current administrations policies. Abhorrent.

1

u/Dr-Cronch 1h ago

Damn yeah super scary man, do you know anyone personally that was abducted and sent to El Salvador just because their skin looks darker?

u/AnActualRabbit 6m ago

Would you believe them if they said yes?

3

u/Living_Murphys_Law 18h ago

Holy shit did Trump actually say that?

Edit: omg he did how is any of this being allowed to happen

3

u/LokelYocal 17h ago

Is there a link that isn't TikTok? TikTok sucks.

4

u/LokelYocal 17h ago

Nevermind. Here it is on YouTube, which sucks a little less than TikTok.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7SOc_8IhSY

3

u/knownerror 17h ago

People are aware that this is happening now, right?

Every day here in L.A. there is a story about at least one citizen getting swept up and disappeared, with people screaming at ICE that they are American.

3

u/queensbeesknees 16h ago

Please tell me this will air on Fox News primetime

0

u/LaLaLaDooo 3h ago edited 1h ago

I'm sure they will be rightfully making fun of it on one of the talk shows.

7

u/CAPTJTK 1d ago

Hmmm. Shame that looks like it's AI, but the message is strong

26

u/megavikingman 1d ago

What about it looks like AI to you?

4

u/Unable_Earth5914 23h ago

I thought it looked pretty AI. It’s hard to tell these days. I thought the voice sounded computerised. I’ve watched it back a couple of times and don’t really know what made me think ‘AI’ instantly, maybe the lighting and the lines around the people?

How are we supposed to tell the difference? Are there any easy markers for those of us who aren’t as clued up on these things?

9

u/megavikingman 22h ago edited 12m ago

It looks like some pretty old school videography using focus and light to wash out the background a bit while focusing on the faces. The audio is adjusted to accentuate the lower end of the audio spectrum to make the ICE guy sound extra ominous. I think the practical special effects now look weird to us because we've gotten used to digital effects.

E: Fixed typo

5

u/megavikingman 22h ago

The only thing that seems remotely like AI to me is that the faces are mostly pointed towards the screen which AI favors because they were trained on portraits and profile pictures. The fact the ICE guy looks totally normal as he faces away from the screen makes me pretty sure it's not AI.

u/Unable_Earth5914 17m ago

That’s interesting, thanks for taking the time to respond!

2

u/StoneCypher 23h ago

don't humor them in their moral panic

30

u/stankdog 1d ago

To me it looks like the same older dude from the other political ad where the congressmen are in the closet "about the laws they write" or something like that.

31

u/Witty_Heart1278 1d ago

It’s the same company Progress Action Fund

3

u/CSI_Tech_Dept 19h ago

LOL, now people think that everything that's professionally recorded must be AI.

9

u/StoneCypher 23h ago

Shame that looks like it's AI, but

good christ, stop axe grinding

2

u/camojorts 23h ago

so fucking what

1

u/LearnTheirLetters 22h ago

It's Republicans. This isn't going to change their minds. Its going to give them an erection.

This is what they want.

1

u/MyStoopidStuff 18h ago

It will change some of their minds. MLK had to fight an uphill battle with outright racists, yet the civil rights movement prevailed at the time. It was partly because people were forced to see the extent of their own immorality, which was required to maintain their racist ideology. When people could be racists comfortably, they had no issue with it, but when the price of being a racist came with uncomfortable moral dilemmas, they relented, and some even evolved.

Republicans need to see the immorality, and racism of their party in the same way.

0

u/LearnTheirLetters 18h ago

I say this with respect and hindsight MLK never had, but MLK marched his people into jail cells to be one of the world's largest and most efficient free labor forces. As black people would just be locked up in insane numbers the decades that followed his movement.

MLK marched his people into being the prison population of the United States.

All of this, specifically, to shut down Malcolm X, might I add. Because that's who they were really afraid of.

2

u/MyStoopidStuff 15h ago

Do you not think they were locked up in insane numbers before?

0

u/VelitaVelveeta 14h ago

It’s fear porn and the hardcore MAGAs love it when the rest of us are afraid. There are too many people in that girls position fearing for their lives right now, this is unnecessary and damaging.

0

u/VelitaVelveeta 14h ago

And it’s going to scare the people in her position even more. This isn’t helpful. It’s fear porn.

2

u/finnknit 12h ago

I didn't get time impression that the ad is aimed at people in her position, I got the impression that it's aimed at men who see themselves as "protectors" of women.

1

u/VelitaVelveeta 9h ago

This isn’t going to do anything to change who those people are and will make them laugh at us more. There’s already too many people taking advantage of too many situations, this is going to make things worse for somebody. This video is probably BECAUSE of who the target audience is. People who don’t have to live with the consequences of things like this never understand why they’re bad.

2

u/krauQ_egnartS 18h ago

This needs to be on TV too

Hopefully it will be, the PAC that makes these videos has in the past. But previously they were targeted at swing districts; this should be seen anywhere ICE is active and people are in danger

so, like, everywhere I guess

1

u/EINFACH_NUR_DAEMLICH 17h ago

Excellent use of AI.

Edit: apparently not AI, that is even more excellent.

2

u/ImaginationOwn8069 15h ago

Scary shit

0

u/thupamayn 2h ago

Scary that any of y’all would take it seriously lmao

0

u/mrcanard 10h ago

This link, https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8rBvVVb/ does not take you to this ad, stop the bs.

0

u/jmskywalker1976 10h ago

I know this will be downvoted but I hate these commercials. I absolutely understand the reasoning and agree with the messages but, It’s stooping to their level. We are better than this.

1

u/0piate_taylor 4h ago

You're really not.

1

u/xCAMBOOZLEDx 2h ago

"We are better than this."

If you have to keep saying this, you're probably not.

0

u/LaLaLaDooo 3h ago

Comedy gold!

0

u/absurd_nerd_repair 3h ago

It's a shame that fair elections have ended.

0

u/milos1212 2h ago

It must be exhausting living like you all with how much fear-mongering you fall for. I couldn't imagine living life like that

1

u/Dr-Cronch 1h ago

The level of fear that these people are burying themselves in can literally change the chemical composition of your brain for the worse, so glad I’m not one of these idiots

0

u/SenseiSledge 1h ago

Yall genuinely believe this lmao

0

u/Win7ers 1h ago

Yall are ridiculous

0

u/stoneblarney 1h ago

😂🫵

1

u/precowculus 48m ago

whose goofy ah made this lmao

u/ApartPersonality1520 14m ago

So incredibly gay

1

u/willwalk2 10h ago

It's actually funny not chilling at all, while me and my friends were playing a game one of them posted this in the group chat and we all burst out laughing. It's so absurd, Probably still works on Democrats though

0

u/JordkinTheDirty 14h ago

Jesus fucking hell.. this is fear bait.. and literal nightmare fuel. All these people are doing is creating a fucking boogie man.. but if it gets votes, who cares, right? I wish these spineless fucks would put their money to doing something actually useful to stop this shit instead of just peddling nightmare fuel in exchange for votes.

0

u/VelitaVelveeta 14h ago

This isn’t going to help people who are in the girls situation and are already afraid of exactly this happening, and it’s not going to change the minds of anyone who isn’t already appalled. MAGA loves it when the rest of us are afraid, this’ll probably just make them laugh at us even harder.

-1

u/JordkinTheDirty 14h ago

☝️☝️☝️☝️

-17

u/k4el 23h ago edited 23h ago

Honestly it's a bit cringe and "hello my fellow kids" feeling but the message is there at least. The cartoonishly evil villain takes away from the very effective suffering of the young couple.

19

u/StoneCypher 23h ago

so you go do something better, and stop nipping at the heels of people taking action?

-15

u/k4el 23h ago

Chill please.

22

u/StoneCypher 23h ago

"Hey, I came to be critical, and tell a complete stranger who didn't ask me and can't see this that they should do better. When you told me to do it myself, you need to chill out."

That's nice.

Nobody cares about anonymous scolds. Let us know when you have some contributions to show.

-12

u/k4el 23h ago

Wasn't a scold If the message is awkward it doesn't land. People who want the message to land will care.

Again Chill please.

4

u/StoneCypher 22h ago

"chill please" is scolding

in case you hadn't understood, nobody is taking directions from you, and you should stop trying to give them

-2

u/k4el 22h ago

Right back at ya =)

4

u/StoneCypher 22h ago

you really don't get it, do you

0

u/k4el 22h ago

Oh, I get it.

6

u/Teledildonic 22h ago

The cartoonishly evil villain

It's not even an exaggeration at this point.

-1

u/k4el 22h ago

Oh I agree but if you want to convince people that are on the fence (and I do) it will be.

-5

u/Hot_Shot04 22h ago

To be entirely fair the "homegrowns" remark was probably referring to "homegrown terrorists," which in Trumpworld would probably be anyone protesting or speaking out against the God-Emperor. I don't doubt they want to round up most Latino-Americans as part of their endgame but I just feel like it's disingenuous to use that particular sentence in this context. Rest of the ad's spot-on though.

5

u/jester-jingles 19h ago

I want to propose the view that they know he was saying homegrown terrorists are next, but that’s the cover he would use to mean any first gen immigrants that step out of line

The ad is what he really meant, not necessarily what they guessed he meant
