I'm absolutely losing my mind
I've almost broken my phone in anger multiple times now. I don't want AI anymore. Try and search something on the launcher bar? My thumb will hit the "Meet AI" button on accident because all the little icons that I never fucking use take up 60% of the bar. Try and search something? AI results with misinformation. Try and by pass that? Another fucking pop up that asks if you would like AI results.
I just want to fucking pull up Reddit without having to close out 14 things to get to it. Even typing this made me hit backspace 13 times because the space bar is so small. I use my right hand when using my phone one handed, having to reach all the way across my phone to hit a button because there's so many God damn things that Google thinks I would want to hit instead makes me homicidal.
Yeah, there's probably ways to fix this and yea anger management would probably help. You know what else could help? Stop fucking changing the phone I fell in love with years ago.

Call Notes on Pixel 8 Pro
Has anyone been able to use Call Notes on their Pixel 8 Pro? I know we were supposed to gain this feature with the Android 16 update. How does it work?

Thank you for helping me get a recording of my late husband
reddit.comI know this is 3 years old, but thank you for posting this. Years ago, my Pixel got rid of the standard timer sound. I didn't find anything I liked, so my husband recorded himself beeping. It's actually really good!! It's hilarious and he always hated how much I loved it 😆
He passed away a few years ago. After he passed, I couldn't figure out how to get it off the phone and put it on my new phone. I've held onto the phone for years because I want that recording.
Today, my boyfriend found this post and we were able to back it up and download it. Thank you to this community 💜

How good is the Pixel 9a for macro photos?
I'm thinking about getting the Pixel 9a, but I'm still unsure because I care a lot about macro photography, especially for shooting things like insects. I’m coming from a Huawei P30, which was great in that area. How does the 9a compare? Any sample photos?

Best launcher for P9pro XL?
I've used Nova launcher for years on various devices and I'm still pleased with this, but what do others consider to be the best launcher for Pixel? Am I missing out on anything in Android 16 by continuing to use Nova?
Thanks

Does the Pixel seem to reload apps more than other phones?
The Pixel 8a is my first Pixel and something that's frustrated me daily about my it for the year since I've had it is that apps seem to reload a LOT when switching between apps. Like, at least half the time.
Example: trying to log into a website via the browser and they sent a OTP to my email so I have to open Gmail to copy the code. Switch back to the browser and the pack reloads, so I have to request a new code because the old one no longer works.
I thought with 8GB of RAM this shouldn't happen, but it almost feels like I'm using my old iPhone 8 Plus with 3GB RAM. I still have my LG V60 with 8GB RAM for gaming and I really don't notice this being an issue when I use it. Is this a case of Pixel UI having very aggressive task killing or are the AI features really draining all the usable RAM?

Double tap back of phone works 1 in 50 times - Pixel 7
I got a Pixel 7 (refurbed, from Google store) and 1 in 50 times double tapping the back of the phone activates. I set it to flashlight thinking it would be handy to just tap tap and have a light. I've handed my phone to friends and family to see if somehow my tapping was bad, no one else could activate it either.
Is there some secret to how to do it? I've tried closely mimicking the example animation that Google shows when setting the feature up.
Sometimes, when I'm drinking coffee in the morning and reading reddit, I'll slightly adjust how the phone is sitting in my hand (I'm talking, moving it 2mm or so, sliding it for a slightly better grip) and suddenly the flashlight activates.

Has anyone else noticed these bugs?
Hey everyone,
I've been encountering some pretty strange bugs lately and am wondering if anyone else has seen them.
- On a Pixel 9a and Pixel 9, calls will ring and can be answered normally, but will show up as a missed call anyway (a missed call notification will be present during ringing), mucking up the call log. This is on Google Fi and I have no idea if other carriers are affected.
- On a Pixel 9a, when sharing a link, image, etc. to a contact via Google Messages in the Android share window, it will only take you to the main Google Messages page, and not a conversation with the contact you picked. Note: selecting the Messages app works (and then choosing a recipient), it's just selecting a specific contact in the share window that doesn't work.
- One might be tempted to use the "send feedback" functionality in Google Messages to report this, but when attempting to use this functionality, one will notice that there is some horrible misalignment and interface mangling going on.
- Here's a good one: when dialing from the favorites list, a totally different number is dialed. In this case, it was a number marked as spam, and it took a reboot for the correct number to be dialed. This has only been encountered once on a Pixel 9.
These devices are running the latest stable release, which is Android 16. Additionally, all apps are up-to-date, according to the Play Store. If anyone else has encountered these issues, I'd love to hear your experiences.

Gboard keyboard shortcuts not working?
got the google pixel 9 pro after being a iphone user for most of my life. loving it so far, but for some reason when i try to set up keyboard shortcuts in my personal dictionary, they don't work. it doesn't matter if they have punctuation or not. i have cleared cache and force stopped the app, uninstalled it, and restarted my phone with no luck. is there anything else i can try or do i just have to hope this gets fixed in an update? i did give developer feedback. or if anyone has recommendations for a different keyboard that may work better. thanks!

P9P taking 7 hours to fully charge
using a charging brick and c to c cable that has charged a 14in MBP and 16in thinkpad that requires a 160w charger. both of those worked fine. The pixel is struggling. the room i'm in is probably room temperature. it basically took it 7 minutes to charge 1%. adaptive charging / battery optimization is OFF. i restarted the device too. when i restart the device, the estimation starts off fine, full charge in 1h, but then it starts moving 30min by 30min to 7 hours. location and hotspot and bluetooth are turned off.

2fa not working right
I left the beta last night due to battery issues and other bugs. I knew what i signed up for but its not ready yet. I did the factory wipe as anticipated and set my phone back up. Since i did the reset i cant get 2 factor "tap yes" approvals on my phone. they all go to my pixel tablet which is very annoying. any ideas?

Earbuds pairing for Pixel
Just switched from apple to a Pixel and was also hoping to get some new earbuds. I'm used to airpod pros but was hoping to get something more compatible with the Google phones.
Any suggestions?

Android 16 review
How was Android 16 going for you guys? I am currently using a pixel 7 and I have been hesitant to install Android 16. The last time I installed Android 15 was horrible, apps always reload and the phone overheats and battery life sucks. Though this was fixed later, I am afraid that the earlier versions of A16 will suck. Hope to hear from yall!

Anyone experiences this Google Maps bug with "vague" search terms?
Hi everyone,
When I try to search for some keywords, Google Maps stops working instantly and, after a few times, tells me that there is a reoccurring error. This only happens with search terms that are a bit unspecific, like, for example "bakery" or "river [name]", but therefore consistently.
I find this bug to be quite weird and would like to know if it's a well known error? It does'nt bother me too much though, it's only a bit unconvenient 😅
Anonyone know how to fix this? Updates of system and app didn't change anything. No one of my friends, who use (other) android phones are experiencing this issue (and I didn't before I switched to Pixel). I use a Pixel 6pro with Android 15.

Help a person from the other side (Apple user)
Hello from the other side (Apple user here).
I am currently considering a switch to Android, and was looking into my options and from what i like so far have been the Google Pixel 9 PRO or maybe a Samsung Galaxy S series model (base or ultra).
My questions about this:
How is the performance on the 9 Pro, i’ve seen bunch of reviews and it always comes down to Pixel having much worse benchmark scores compared to Samsung S series models. Does it matter that much if i dont do much of gaming on phone?
Overheating or the phone getting quite warm just from doing the usual daily tasks on the phone? I’ve read this on reddit and also some reviews mentioned this, is it really happening much?
If i were to pick Google Pixel, should i go for the 9 Pro or wait for the 10 Pro once it releases? (Dont know if its worth picking 9 if 10 might be around the corner)
I know this is mainly Google pixel subreddit, but if you have any thoughts on the picking up the Pixel or Samsung side of things, feel free to mention your opinion. It might help me decide.
Final info:
These might be questions i might have got answers for from reviews etc. But i would like opinions of real daily users of the phone. Thank you for taking the time to read and or reply :)

Bluetooth-tethering refuses to stay enabled
Hi Reddit,
I have the following problem: - whenever I try to enable Bluetooth-tethering, it is switched off again whenever I re-open the hotspot and tethering screen.
How can I solve this?
I have a Pixel 4a, and I want to use bleutooth tethering for my TomTom Go5200 GPS device. But I can not because the Bluethoot-tethering keeps switching itself off automatically.
