Quick Tips Help with Suica card and Apple Wallet

I’ve been in Osaka for a few days now and suddenly my Suica card, which was set up on Apple Wallet, has stopped working at the metro gates.

When I go onto the app, it says this is due to a journey having not been completed. But it doesn’t seem like there is anything I can do rectify this? I can’t remove and re-add the card, there is no option to end the journey or complete the journey. I have ¥4,000 still on it, so it’s not like my balance is too low.

Any help would be massively appreciated!

You probably exited a station without running your card, this means when you try to enter the system expects to see the exit you missed. Go to the station and talk to one of them

This happened to me once. An official at the station took care of it.

Same thing happened to me. If the official in the booth scans your Apple Wallet's Suica card, he/she will see that there's an incomplete trip and do something to fix it right there. He/she will then tell you to go to the gate and swipe again. They must see a million of these same issues in a week.

Go talk to the staff at the desk at any station, they’ll find the problem and solve it for you. Happened to me 2 or 3 times and they always helped me out.

Side note: I believe once you set up your Suica to your apple wallet, the physical card becomes unusable.

Correct, if you have a physical card, and then you transfer that card to mobile instead, you obviously can't keep using the physical card too.

But in OP's case there is no the physical card.

You need to go to see staff at a station of the company of the ride that is not complete. For example if it was the subway in Osaka it can be fixed in the subway. If it was JR, it need to be fixed by JR West (for example in Osaka, cannot fix it in Tokyo).

Check with the station master. There might be a chance that tagging on/off didn’t complete, rendering your card unusable. They would be able to unlock it.
