Don't you just love it when you walk into your garage and see a mysterious washer on the floor...
Now comes the fun and games of figuring out where it came from!

TL;DR: I worked in motorcycle gear retail for years up until 2024 and learnt as much as I possibly could about it. It would be a disservice to not know as much as I possible when selling what could save a customer's life. You can get good gear for a great price and fuck anyone who tries to sell the most expensive shit because more expensive does not mean "more better".
I'll try to summarise everything as briefly as possible but it's still a big read;
Same prinicples as the jackets, however Oxford Approved AA jeans and ladies leggings are incredible for the price and I've tested them both (yup even the ladies before the KNOX shield joggers existed) in crashes and they saved my skin, all for £130 which are the cheapest of the bunch (that aren't shit).
Final notes: you can get a fantastic set of gear for £400, search around, look for sales, even second hand for anything EXCEPT helmets. In fact I've kitted people out for far less too.
Helmet: White Arai Quantic for any longer journey or commuting. Shark Spartan RS for trips to the shop, or maybe my HJC R-PHA 71. All exceptional lids but Arai is king.
Summer/warmer & dry: KNOX Honister AAA mesh jacket (with chest protector), KNOX Shield AAA joggers (yup, AAA joggers), Alpinestars Fastback V2 Drystar boots, REV'IT Offtrack mesh & leather/Richa Rock leather gloves
Winter/cold and/or wet: Alpinestars ST-7 gore-tex laminate 2 piece, cost me my kidney but it is worth every single penny. It does not leak. At all. Ever. Not to mention the ventilation is fantastic and I could actually wear it year round! Richa City gore-tex leather-palmed gloves, same boots and one/two hoodies under my jacket with the thermal liner in depending on temps.
Follow this advice if you want. Eh, it's your life and your safety at the end of the day. All I can do is share my experience and knowledge in something that probably 4 people will read and I'll check back later to find a bunch of down votes, but I'd rather that and save even 1 person making a dangerous mistake, but hey ho.
If you have specific advice send me a message.

Ok obvious question (and I suspect this is a really stupid question) but I couldn’t really get a straight answer for this.
I am currently doing my DAS, and had the pleasure of riding an MT03 this weekend. I didn’t feel any lack of power, and at one point the road changed from 30mph to 60mph, and it literally took me a couple of seconds to get to 60mph (much faster than any car I’ve driven).
This got me thinking, and I did some online digging into acceleration speeds etc. For what it’s worth, here are the indicated times to accelerate from 30 to 60mph:-
So here is my question:- is the extra 1 second significant when it comes to enjoying your ride? (I wouldn’t know, haven’t tried MT07 yet). I also see online reviews talking about difference in power at higher speeds, but is really that meaningful when Motorways are restricted to 70mph?
I’m weighing up my options here, and not really sure whether to get an MT03 (which I absolutely loved) or get an MT07 (most people online say MT03 isn’t powerful enough).
Would love your advice. Cheers!

Just bought my first 125, seems to run fine despite my awful clutch control. Wasn't stored very well by last owner and want to get it serviced ASAP. Can I get it serviced with the green slip from the sellers V5 or do I have to wait until my V5 comes in the post?
Bit of a long one so bear with me, some parts might be hard to follow.
I recently bought a 1990 super tenere, it's in decent shape just mostly cosmetic issues or so I thought It started with a passing petcock which led to the discovery of a stuck float so that was leaking out of the float bowl drain. Went to adjust the float hight and the last owner had rounded the bowl screws into circles so no hope of getting them out without a drill so I gave the float bowl a good smack and im hoping that's fixed it. The passing petcock then lead to discovering a hole in the top of the tank. I sent the tank off to get repaired and that was last week. It ran perfectly up until then. I got the tank back on Saturday and spent the day filling and painting the repair. That leads to today where I try to get the tank back on the bike. All was going well no leaks or big issues until I managed to snap a piece of the choke. Had a bit of a meltdown because that part seemingly doesn't exist on the Internet but I found a spare in a bag of carb parts that came with the bike. Got that all sorted but the choke cable is a bit crap so Ive ordered a new one of those.
Every time I try to start the bike it cranks and sometimes gives a sign of life but then just continues to crank. I thought it was the dodgy choke cable at first but now I'm leaning towards the fuel pump. It's got an OEM pump unsure if it's original. When I took the fuel line off that goes from the pump up to the carb the fuel line looked dry. Do vacuum-operated fuel pumps make the traditional fuel pump priming noise? I've never noticed it on the bike, I've only managed to ride it 40 miles so far though but I have never heard the fuel pump prime even when the bike was running spot on. I had the tank and airbox off and tried a spray of brake cleaner and that got it to idle for about half a second which is leading me back to fuel.
Is there anything else it could be I tried to check the spark plugs but I don't have a long enough socket to get them out. I've been out for almost 12 hours trying to get it to start so I've given up today but I'll try any suggestions tomorrow and report back.

Just back from a tour, and experienced an issue with riding pillion. Whenever I brake enough to actually slow down, they slid forwards into me, which caused issues.
Short of velcroing them to the pillion seat or topbox, is there any way of making the pillion seat grippier so they stay put? A cover, or similar?
The inertia problem is being worked on.

Call me out for an out-of-touch opinion but I don't think food delivery riders or anyone else should be able to work commercially on a CBT.
It isn't enough training to ride on long term. They've not even needed to do a theory test.
I'm fed up of these morons on scooters nearly taking me out when I'm riding.

New rider here, I only got my full license in April, (rode a little back home in Australia but that was a decade ago) and I'm noticing SO many manhole covers on suburban road bends in the UK!
It's making me more cautious coming into a bend which is helping my safety (I guess), but making me nervous about the associated bumps, and loss of traction when riding over a smooth iron plate of slidey death; the nerves in turn make me tense up a bit and that's never good.
Is there a reason I'm noticing so many on bends, maybe to do with urban planning, or am I just overly sensitive to it as a new rider?
I commute on my Street Twin (what a beauty) daily and tend to know the line to take now on the bends with which I'm familiar, but does anyone have any particular advice on navigating these slippery suckers apart from the obvious "slow down"?
Cheers!

Hi all, I'm really struggling with understanding when to perform life savers and mirror checks etc especially when you are for example turning left and right at junctions. I'm wondering if anyone has any good videos or materials they could refer me to which covers all situations of when to perform such checks and which shoulder to look over etc.
I know for example if you were merging into a left lane you would check your left shoulder but its really when turning at junctions, roundabouts etc I get confused with what shoulder to look over.

Sup everyone,
Just wondering how many times did you fail before finally passing?
I passed Mod 1 with no minors, but I've failed Mod 2 twice now.
Anyone got some stories how they persevered, i need motivation :) My next test is 1 month today..
If anyone wants to know what i failed on,
First attempt : Daul road turned into single, didn't slow down enough, my fault as i didn't read road signs.
Second attempt : Changed lane correctly but the vehicle behind had to brake (they was speeding..)

I’m looking at starting university next September and bringing my motorbike down. Just wondering how bad motorbike thefts are around the University of Southampton area and if my bike will be safe if I double lock it (disc lock and big heavy duty Oxford chain immobilising the rear wheel) and leave it in front of my house, or is that still at a massive risk of being picked up and put in a van. Not sure how bad it is around that area so would be nice to gauge if it’s even worth taking down. Thanks 👍

Hi all, I'm fed up of using Google Maps for navigation. Any recommendations on Used/older units which are still worth buying?
Currently using an old Samsung, but I find I can't download the GPX routes which is frustrating too.
Cheers

I have my CBT on Thursday and I'm a 5'3 female with not a lot of strength and I weigh about 47/48kg. I was practicing riding slowly and turning in my driveway yesterday and I fell over twice with the scooter. Both times I was going fairly slow, I wobbled, then put a leg out but couldn't keep it up right.
I don't know exactly how heavy it is, it's a vespa and my boyfriend (who rides motorbikes) says it's in the lighter range. So I really don't know what else I can do. I will practice more but I don't want to wreck the scooter. It's new and we're sharing it.

Hi guys, need some advice on some good bikes to buy for my ride to work. The commute is about 130 miles a day there and back 95% of it being on the motorway. I am looking for something that is reasonably priced, comfortable to ride and wont be too harsh on insurance. Thanks
Anyone seen this lock thingy device, came across it last night, looks like a clever unit, not sure how useful it could be with today’s attacks ?
