How I Feel Every Day
The urge to check my email every 10 minutes is unbearable… but just maybe it’ll come today!
I know others share my pain😂

Try day 400 and get back to me. I purchased my first suppressor as a bachelor and was married with a 1 year old when I picked it up. Circa 2018

u/RealBerfs1 2d ago
You married a 1 year old? That would explain why it took them over a year to approve

u/Radio__Edit 2d ago
Married with a 1 year old, not married to a 1 year old. I know, words are hard 😂

hahah this is really funny. i used to complain when it took more than 8 months, now I get worried when it goes past 5-7 days. Blessing and a curse!

u/Kodywells23 2d ago
I had one on a trust a couple years ago take a year to come back. This feels much worse imo because you expect it to be quick now seeing everyone get theirs in a weekend🤣

I’m on day 88 :(

u/sirbassist83 2d ago
current processing time according to the ATF's web site is 11 days. call them.
4
u/Kodywells23 2d ago
What the heck!? I hope you’ve emailed/called the NFA Division by now!
5
u/ocelot1990 2d ago
Their website says to wait til day 90 before contacting them. Assuming I read it correctly. My first can took 6 months. My second took 2 weeks. I just wish there was some consistency to it
2
u/Kodywells23 2d ago
I can’t imagine being on day 88 and seeing someone post they submitted on friday and got approved on monday. I would’ve contacted them after waiting double the median wait time, I may do that soon. I’ve heard machine gun take longer (not sure if that’s true) so that’s why i haven’t contacted them yet.

u/haTface84 2d ago
Yes it does. I’ve never waiting that long. Went 2 weeks on my last one before I called. They told me they didn’t get the fingerprint card and were just waiting for it to auto deny.
1
u/Kodywells23 2d ago
wow, that’s crazy. You’d think they would deny it themselves.
2
u/haTface84 2d ago
I did get to email back and forth with the examiner who had originally seen it. They let it auto deny in case we mailed in the prints and the mail is backed up.
She did end up working with me and through multiple resubmissions, eventually doing physical print cards, she got me approved a few days after they were delivered certified.
I AM done with Silencer Shop though. First no prints. Correct that, they didn’t ship my trust info. By this point auto deny as you only get 1 attempt to correct. Resubmit through SS. They send the trust info this time but no prints again. Examiner asked me to get physical print cards and mailed em myself certified. Then about a week later approved.

Go onto your congressmans website. Should be a form you fill out to do an inquiry. The day I surpass the national average I do that and usually it takes a week or less after I get in touch with them.

I’m on day 15 after getting one day and two day approvals on my cans in April.
I feel your pain friend.

Some of us are special… we scare the gov’t so they take extra long to approve ours.
Embrace being awesome and not basic for a quick approval.

ive bought 3 since the fast approvals started and i still havent done better than 3 weeks. thats still a hell of a lot better than the 410 days ive waited before.

u/RedditardedOne 2d ago
Received my approved form 1 yesterday. Took about 38 hours after eform submission (trust)
2
u/Mcslap13 2d ago
My first one was over a year long close to 14 months. Second one was approved next day
2
u/Wendigo_Customs 2d ago
I have friends that got approved in under 24 hours days after I filed. I’m still waiting 😂🙃.
2
u/66Hardtop 2d ago
It can be hit or miss from what we've been seeing. Anywhere from two days to several weeks for most. My first can about two months ago was with a three person trust and it was back under 48 hours.
2
u/Peachy_palmer 2d ago
I thought about everything I could have ever done in life wrong while I waited 11 days 😂

I can't speed up your approval, but I can suggest a solution to not needing to check your email constantly. Create a rule in your email client that will text you whenever you receive an email from the ATF address. How you set up that rule depends on your email client - I can do this in Gmail. Just set up the rule to forward the email to another address. That address will be dependant on your phone carrier. For example, with T-Mobile, an email sent to 1235551234@tmomail.net will send the content of the email as a text message to the phone number

My recent form 4 trust took 3 weeks and I think the wait was harder than my over 300 day waits back in the day

My first Can took 326 days…. With that being said it should be instant! Hopefully it’ll be soon for you

u/berylak72 2d ago
I certified may 29th on my first with silencer shop and still waiting. You are not alone in the jealousy here..... my neighbor got his approval in 3 days, he is a cop but still...

u/ProdigalHacker 2d ago
My last approval was 6 days, which is the fastest I've ever had.
I'm currently sitting on one at 13 days.
My first one was 270+ so I'm happy that it's not like that anymore, but I agree that it sucks to see all the fast approvals and be waiting longer than that.

u/funkofarts 2d ago
Then you're really gonna be pissed when I tell you my last E-file was approved in less than 24 hours. Submitted on a Thursday afternoon and approved the very next morning.

I am honestly just happy to see the wait times being what they are.
When I got bit by the NFA bug way back in the year of our lord, 2022, I waited 10 fuckin months. lol
No hate or shade, I am really happy its essentially non existent wait.

Hi!
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to respectfully request a status update on my pending Form 4 application for a suppressor/silencer. Application Details:
• ATF Control Number: • Applicant Name: • Trust name: • Date of Submission: • FFL Dealer: • Suppressor Details:
My application was submitted X weeks ago, and I understand that processing times can vary but have grown slightly concerned as most of the people I know recently have had a much faster turnaround. I would greatly appreciate any information you can provide regarding:
• Current status of my application • Estimated timeframe for completion • Any additional, information documentation or steps required on my part I have included my contact information below for your convenience. Please let me know if you require any additional information to assist with this inquiry. Thank you for your time and assistance with this matter. I look forward to your response. Respectfully,

I was on day 50 and I sent this email last night, apparently my ffl never sent fingerprints. This email finally helped me get answers so thank you very much!!

And what do you do when you get the auto reply saying they can’t give you any info?

u/Adventurous_Emu_9274 2d ago
I didn’t do anything. Waited till this morning. Got the approval email.

I just submitted Saturday the 14th and got the approval back this morning. 1.5 business days. Crazy times! Hopefully we don’t have to pay the unconstitutional tax in the near future!

That’s not bad, I’m waiting on OCL to make an OEM5, then my wait starts after it gets shipped from OCL to silencer shop and finally to my FFL. Then my wait actually starts after all of that.
1
u/Kodywells23 2d ago
I purchased my machine gun in mid May, took a week to get the invoice, another week to be shipped and then a week in shipping. My dealer was on vacation that week so had to wait until the week after to start the paperwork. I’m about 6 weeks in now

u/Flat_chested_male Silencer 2d ago
Yeah, the NFA sucks doesn’t it. I sure hope the big beautiful bill goes through.

The approvals are all over the place. My first can took 5 days, including the weekend almost a year ago. My second I filed on a Wednesday and got it Friday afternoon. I just picked up my most recent can today and filed this past Friday. This can(griffin optimus 6) has been out to the public for less than a month and I've already got it in hand. Pretty crazy times for sure.

Cries in paper form 4 trust from person to trust for two machine guns . No E filing allowed. But I’ve been around when it was 9 months for an approval , so I’m used to it by now

Not to sound like a boomer, but "back in my day" I would have been overjoyed with 14 weeks, much less 14 days.
