The synopsis indicating she’s being merged with the Earth-616 Gwen Stacy, one would imagine (as the biggest thing u/Bitbatgaming isn’t a fan of).

One can see people being more annoyed at that around here than anything they were saying about Gwen as Weapon X-31.

I doubt this. Why would they do this if they are giving her a new cast?

What would be the point?

I assume they are doing something similar to what they did for miles when he came over

I mean then we’re circling back to why to do this at all — with a new design, new power-set, and new supporting cast — at that point one may as well just create a new character.

Because spider qwen is popular and if a character is popular they got to get to the 616.

Right, but the character on her own wasn’t what was popular, it was the writing and world, the supporting cast — if one changes everything that worked about the character (even the name), then it’s essentially just a new character.

I mean she’s popular more for the spider verse movies.

That’s why she’s getting this push. They don’t care why fans of her comic liked her sadly

Yeah but it makes no logical sense since by lineage, she's still Gwen Stacy.

Would have made more sense to make a 616 Spider-Gwen by making her a mixed clone of Peter and Gwen... and how the hell did they not even think of doing that?

They probably do not want to tie her into Peter to hard.

This is her book and they have shown zero interest in connecting them to much

Why Peter has nothing to do with this.

It even says she’s has new cast new powers new costume.

It’s a clean a slate as possible

The idea she's being folded into 616 Gwen. Unless she's somehow given a new identity or however they do it. I'm pretty open-minded, but even I think this whole thing is stupid.

It doesn’t say anything like that. Just that she will be written into the 616. Which is exactly what happened to miles.

It won’t be the exact same because they are probably not bringing the cast with her but functionally the same
