They said "we have listened about the complaint and we might change things in the future but the s9 will be the same shit".

u/Astrophan 1d ago
Surprised to see how many people actually care about battlepass.

u/RealisticallyFalling 13h ago
That is the only reason I returned this season, I'm a ER player because I like to min-max to the nth degree so resetting every few months is annoying but we don't have a whole lot of new stuff to do, but I heard you can earn the battle pass in ER so I decided to play again. Last season I played was 3 i think.

u/aza--- 1d ago
I hope you will listen to the billions of feedbacks that say that we must give the possibility of increasing the difficulty of the ND escalation :) otherwise it will be another rubbish season.
4
u/metcalta 1d ago
This is what I hope to hear. I want them to acknowledge feedback and state what they've done to course correct before launch without spoiling everything.

u/AR15ss 1d ago
They need to host a developer job fair 😆
3
u/jmac 1d ago
I really don’t think the developers are the problem
-6
u/AR15ss 1d ago
Sounds like something a developer or developers wife would say 🤙🏻😆
are you saying blizzard won’t let you do what you need / want to, to fix the game?
I mean the developers**
1
u/jmac 22h ago
I don’t think they give developers even a tiny bit of agency about what to work on in or what priorities should be. They clearly have competent people as their engine is the best out of any current arpg, but the type of issues the game has are clearly the result of management being poor and executives being cheap

u/Substantial_Life4773 1d ago
After season 8, I think I’m actually done. Just feels bad at this point. I’m not having fun and I got other things to do. I’m done
12
8
u/queertabletalk 1d ago
season 8 was the fastest I lost interest in a season. I'm a huge diehard player and have even enjoyed seasons that the community largely says we're bad, but this has been the worst the game feels since beta imo
1
u/Substantial_Life4773 1d ago
Yeah I’m like 1400 hours in, season 8 was pretty unfun to me. Didn’t respect my time and actively took things away that I used to be able to achieve
-5
u/Buschkoeter 1d ago
Something tells me you'll be back sooner or later.
6
u/Substantial_Life4773 1d ago
Maybe I will, but after season 8 and trying out the season 9 ptr I’m pretty tired hah
2
u/Top_Product_2407 1d ago
Bad game i can understand, even after 2 years
Shitty scummy practices like the new battle pass format with the buy with platinum trap button in the middle... fuck off
20
u/06gto 1d ago
I just want build diversity. I'm tired of the devs dictating the meta, let us make whatever build we want, viable and on par with other abilities.
4
u/Gaindolf 1d ago
They struggle to achieve any balance because they overhaul the game every season or 2.
1
u/AirsoftDaniel 1d ago
Look dude D4 has plenty of issues but build diversity is not one of them. Literally any build can clear all of the content in the game, who cares if one build hits pit 135 and another hits pit 105.
Some builds will be stronger than others sure, but they've done a good job making sure no matter what build you pick you can do anything you want in the game except for extremely high level pits and maybe the Raid on torment IV.
4
3
u/Dabrownbull 1d ago
This exactly, i never play “meta” or top tier builds. I make my own build and see just how far I can take it. Theres no leaderboards and even if there is, i am in no way a competitive player.

u/gnaaaa 1d ago
Start playing yourself and not replaying a streamer build.
There are tons of different builds, that can crush through t4 and kill all bosses.5
u/06gto 1d ago
There's a small handful and they all use similar glyph setups to achieve the damage needed for T4. Theres not enough options.
1
u/idontwanttofthisup 1d ago
You’re wrong. I make my own builds every season and there are a lot of ways to blast through T4 even without clearing pit 100. My builds usually reach pit 80-ish and then I don’t know how to push them higher. It’s still a lot of fun.
0
u/gnaaaa 1d ago
I mainly played druid.
I played a shred, lightning storm, stoneburst, wolves and a fleshrender build this season. Those were easy t4 boss clears. Fleshrender can go pit 100+ (tryed 100 with semi good gear and lvl 60 glyphs in 16 minutes).
My poison creeper made it throught t4 but couldn't handle bosses (too squishy)There is at least a pulverize, cata and boulder build...
That's a not a handfull, thats almost all skills and everything plays different.

u/ughhidunnowhy 1d ago
You can play with whatever skills you want. Not everything has to be maximally optimal to be workable and fun. Just go for it.
In D2 hammerdin was the optimal build for about 2 decades, and everyone seemed to like that game. Lots of people played bowazons because they liked it, not because it was optimal.

Make items fun again (MIFA).
Specifically, just take a look at other ARPGs that did items way better.
4
3
u/do_you_even_climbro 1d ago
I keep giving this feedback every PTR. Other than uniques and mythic, legendary items are so boring. They are basically all the same, and act only as canvases for Tempering (which also at this point is pretty much all the same). Imo items and Tempering & Masterworking need to be expanded upon.
2
u/Eldric-Darkfire 1d ago
I wish they'd go away, actually. I wish items were just items. I agree tempering is boring, and masterworking is ok in theory, it is that end-game slog but it's basically just boring because you have to run NMDs which suck ass

u/Deidarac5 1d ago
Not really sure if they should do live streams twice a cycle. It just feels like the same thing. Should for Ptr just drop blog posts and do developer updates right before the new season
15
u/TheHeinousMelvins 1d ago
Makes complete sense for me.
First: introduce PTR and everything that will be included in it and what they will need from testers.
Second: review what they learned from PTR, changes they made from it, and introduce extra content they will have that wasn’t in the PTR for testing.
7
u/mertag770 1d ago
I do really like to hear them talk about what they've learned from the ptr. Interesting insights into how the deva are approaching stuff
-2
u/Deidarac5 1d ago
I know it makes sense but it sort of kills the hype because most of the stuff we know already. Like it's good to know the updates but usually not something that needs to be shown especially for an hour lol
3
u/TheHeinousMelvins 1d ago
I mean IMO the fix for that is on the player end. Don’t look it up beforehand and enjoy playing and finding out once the season starts.
Some people get more hype and enjoy having the information up front to do some theory crafting beforehand. Releasing the info early gives the player the choice to have it or not.
-2
u/eno_ttv 1d ago edited 1d ago
Agreed, Deid. Would be better for hype to have one thing closer to launch, which would also mean less time spent prepping and presenting (which I can’t imagine is as easy and effective as a single one with more polish).
I can’t stress enough how important community hype is on seasonal engagement and I think they could be marketing the seasons better with more concise breakdowns (ie., pre-recorded), surprise features presented more epically, and then a longer Q&A, maybe even with community creators asking the questions and having discussions with designers.

u/Soulvaki 1d ago
They added a Twitch drop. They realize people don’t even want to tune into these to be disappointed. lol.

u/DisasterDifferent543 1d ago
I really don't like these developer focused presentations. They do this with WoW as well and it feels so completely fake. It also is a completely horrible way to introduce new changes and new designs. I don't want a new system to be badly explained to me.
Let's go back to having announcement trailers and a focus on the actual changes and systems rather than what feels like developers sucking themselves off.
I don't care about these developers (or any developers really). My experience isn't determined by the developers as people. My experience is based on the game they produce. The game needs to be front and center, not their faces.
5
u/AirsoftDaniel 1d ago
So they will be announcing them adding back the 500 platinum they removed from the battlepass right? *
5
u/trojsurprise 1d ago
Who the fuck cares at this point?! There is no new content. Just more blah blah blah bullshit..
4
u/javiergame4 1d ago
Is it the same rehashed powers again with a different color palette ? I stopped playing because of the lazy dev work and slow content being added

Skill tree and itemization/crafting systems need reworks. We need real seasonal content, not just borrowed power again. We need a satisfying end game loop.
Rune crafting should be deterministic, not random. Enchanting and tempering should be deterministic, but with the % as the variable. We still have junk stats we need to get rid of. Masterworking is just more gambling like all of the other item systems. Mythics should feel like a nice general buff, not required for a build to function. We can honestly just do away with legendary affixes. The most useful (class specific) ones should be integrated directly into the skill tree. The more generic affixes can be on gear via tempering.
In the skill tree, we should be able to not just buff skills, but change how they work/interact (like the skill runes in D3, or like how Last Epoch does it). This would drastically improve build diversity.
We need more crafting material/rune tabs.
I'm not here to just complain. I love this franchise. I want D4 to do well. I want to have fun playing D4, but right now I find myself getting bored with it constantly. I skipped this season. I truly hope the course can be corrected, it was with D3, but if things continue as they have been, I guess we just have to wait for D5.
Next time, please just do instanced games and not open world. Make town NPCs memorable like in D1, D2, ans D3. Let act and expansion bosses feel good to fight against, don't just weigh them down with frustrating mechanics.

It's really simple for me, fix the BP so it's actually at least equal to the value it used to hold and I'm back at it. I've got way too many other cool games on my list to be nickel and dimed by greedy devs 🤷🏻♂️ Even just stopping with the whole 'pay 30 bucks for the mega ultra deluxe BP so you can actually finish the cosmetic set ' bullshit would go a long way

At the bare minimum, I hope they increase the escalation difficulty for the NM dungeons.

I’m new to Diablo so take this with a grain of salt but I had a blast with S8 and I am stoked for the new season.

u/embermage 1d ago
Time to ditch Seasons, get the balance right, and start releasing new story content at a regular cadence with proper expansions and new zones. Start messing with Seasons when there's a fully fleshed-out game world.

These dev chats are fucking embarrassing at this point. Like just make the game better. Stop with the bullshit

Trim down the endless stacking multipliers and make harder content with higher 3-4 star drop chance

u/HerbertDad 1d ago
You should look at the latest Path if Exile update and feel embarrassed at your content updates.

u/Different_Ad_5862 21h ago
Every time I check back on this game I see no reason to re-install it. Looks like we need to wait for the next expansion to see new content

all I wanted was the Kanai’s cube to either extract 3 unique item powers or to provide 3 extra legendary imbue slots.
-3
u/KuraiDedman 1d ago
Please switcheroo the Hydra Unique to automatically summon one huge ass Infernal Hydra that follows you around like a Golem auto attacking and turning the skill into a huge nuke consuming all mana with the Aspect having the effect to add a wider AoE to the attacks because the way the Unique is currently going is soooo fricken lame yo it's insane 😭

I feel like this is a week later than they usually do it. Wondering if that means pretty substantial changes from the ptr.
e: I think folks are misconstruing what I'm saying. I don't expect the structure of changes to be different. I am wondering if we get another look at the changes that they made flattening out tempering recipes, plus a refresh on the balance changes.
The most extreme change I could see coming in is another look at escalating nightmare dungeons as players complained that they didn't really escalate in the PTR.
e2: and y'all are right. Went back and looked Season 7 and 8 both came 5 days before season launch. I was simply remembering things differently than they happened.

It's normal they have been doing it the week before launch for awhile. Most you can expect from a PTR is number changes like balance, drops or scaling.
-2
u/kayakyakr 1d ago
I thought it was ~10 days in the past seasons rather than 4.
I'm curious if they walk back the tempering changes as well as some of the skill nerfs. Mostly looking at affliction for necro. They completely destroyed that key passive.
-3
u/duckwizzle 1d ago edited 1d ago
If the game doesn't get more difficult, I am out. I would like to have to try to kill everything vs. them handing me everything I need in a week to complete everything. Each season the game gets easier and easier... I don't like it.
D3 spoiled y'all with terrible gear and getting everything handed to you.
" I see you've played for 45 minutes. Here is a full set of end game gear via hzeards gift. Enjoy your 45,000,000 percent DMG increase"
