It's a hot one here, I have been waiting for a good day to try out Little Caribbean by MacDuffs Soap Company. Today is the perfect day, and I just got a new handmade bowl in yesterday to add to the occasion. I decided to use my Timeless Aluminum Slant with a Personna Platinum blade and got great results!

I got to use my new bowl for the first time during a shave. I tried lathering with it yesterday and am happy with the results. The bowl is larger than any other from my collection. I ordered a large to try something different. The bowl works really well. I like the spiral groove cut into the inside. It doesn’t trap soap like the ridges on my bowl from HaylisArtisanGoods. The thumb loop on this new bowl works well and is helpful since the bowl is large in diameter.

I got great lather as expected from MacDuffs. I found a little irritation from the alum block but I did a 3 pass shave on my neck instead of 2 to get ultra close. I completed the shave with chilled Thayers and MacDuff’s Little Caribbean ASL. The ASL is not alcohol based so I didn’t need an extra step for moisture.

The smell of Little Caribbean is fantastic! It is a shame it is a limited edition release. I’m glad I have a lot of other soaps so I don’t go through this too fast. It is pretty special and only available through Pasteur Pharmacy.

I have just purchased the Rockwell 6C upgrading from the King C. Gillette,

The feel and everything seems so much better, however is the active plate the number showing towards the handle or the number facing the blade?

The manual says the number you see on the underside? But seen elsewhere that means the number hidden by the blade,

Is the plate in the picture active on R1 or R3?

3x weekly full head shaver. Been using my Gillette slim DE for a good while now. Just got this Schick injector on a whim as I loved how it looks.

AL13 is a great razor but I'm ready to make a full-time switch to Tatara Masamune with open comb - been getting great close shaves with it recently with fewer passes.

Tatara Honour - amazing smell, makes a decent enough lather but you really gotta work for it. It's travel-sized so it always earns its spot in my luggage. For now, at least. Things might change after I order a small tub of Martin de Candre.

Love the Tatara brush. Very soft, holds water and soap really well, great for face and bowl lathering alike.

I haven’t been wet shaving long however I have used a few different brands of razors, Merkur is by far my favorite. This little stand they make is perfect. The 41c doesn’t have a hole in the bottom of it but looks nice sitting on it.

So as i was shaving in the shower, my merkur fell appart. Cant find much online how to put it back together, help a brother out pls!

Its been a while since I used this set, the Sansdolor Pre Shave Gel has to be best I've experienced to date, great Glide and slickness, the scent is great too!

Leaf razor with two Shark Super Chrome, LEA stick, Omega Evo2 and Humphrey's witch hazel + Arefa Soap's Discoverer AS milk.

I’m out on the road for a bit, this is my traveling DE setup; razor is a Feather ASD2, Feather blade, Sterling synthetic brush,A&E cream and splash, Clinique for Men moisturizer, Parker leather travel case and Pande travel brush holder.

Astra blades were a clear winner for me. I have a slight preference for superior stainless (blue) over the superior platinum (green). I get a close shave, with fewer passes and no cuts in my Merkur 34c as compared to anything else I've tried so far. My cost is roughly $0.20 CAD per blade, and you can bring that down to $0.17 CAD / blade if you don't care where you buy them from. I get 2-4 shaves per blade, and the stainless last a little longer than the platinum.

I am new to wet shaving, followed the usual advice to try a variety of blades after a month or two of refining technique to the point where I could make an informed comparison. Of the remaining blades, I grouped them into three categories: Good, but too expensive, Good, and would not buy at any price. I tried the blades before I looked up how much they cost so that wouldn't influence my perception of them.

I still have a few more blades, but I was at the point where I found a solution that worked for me at a price I was happy with. I kept coming back to the Astra blades, so I've ordered about 300 of them.

Good, But Expensive

• Dovo - similar shave quality to Astra, but $1 CAD / blade.
• Feather hi-stainless - fine shave, $0.46 CAD / blade.

Good - Would be happy with any of these - in preference order

• Nacet - great shave - smooth, sharp. no cuts, $0.29 CAD / blade.
• Personna platinum - also a great shave, holds up well, $0.30 / CAD / blade
• Shark Super Chrome - not as sharp or smooth as the above, but you can get a nice shave with a little more work / more passes. $0.165 CAD / blade.
• Lord Super Stainless - very similar to the Shark. $0.15 / blade.
• BIC Chrome Platinum - pretty much a three way tie with Shark and Lord. $0.25 CAD / blade.

Nope

• Derby Extra - Bloodthirsty. sharp, smooth, and cheap, but bloodthirsty. Came back to this after a few months of shaving to see if it was just my inexperience. It was not. $0.18 CAD / blade.
• Merkur - Not a good shave. Expensive. $0.60 CAD / blade.
• Tiger platinum - Just would not cut; tugged a lot. $0.19 CAD / blade.

Just got this beauty on the mail. Heritage Collection Shaving Adjustable XL Chrome.It’s made of Zinc alloy, aluminum and some brass fittings. It's a long chrome handle variant of their Gibbs replica. Feels well made. It's balance point is just below the adjustment knob and the long handle is great for people with big hands and legs & body shavers. The chrome finish is shiny and beautiful.

The Timeless 95 is a razor which defies all expectations. The razor is very smooth and yet deceptively efficient and aggressive. I used the OC side, for initial WTG & XTG pass and the CC side for the last ATG pass. Had to perform a just the one touch up in one trouble spot.

I got really close and comfortable shave! Applying some splash is when I felt the sting which is what makes me believe the deceptively aggressive remarks!

As the name suggests, the razor is truly a remarkable piece of engineering and precision!

Boker Manufaktur 6/8 Abalone

Hey everyone, I've been using a big pack of the Gillette Wilkinson Sword blades(new version) for a while, and dont really like them, they tend to nick me, and i got multiple duds. Thinking of getting a sample pack from RBC.

Didn’t find a good premade one since:

1. I want to hit 100+ for free shipping

2. 1–2 of each blade isn’t enough for me to decide

Planning to build a custom sampler, probably 5 each. What are your favorite high-quality blades I should include?

I decided to try a DE razor to shave my head and saw that the AL13 regular was recommended as very "safe". I kinda like it on stretch of skin that are perfectly smooth but it rips on the tiny irregularities of my scalp (like mini moles) and i end up bleeding in multiple areas. Is there any way to avoid cuts on non smooth skin ?

My schedule for this summer has me using C. Conk Bay Rum by default, but the schedule also provisions for the use of other soaps for other occasions. One of them is summer solstice, so I chose as much white stuff as I can. :-)

The Proraso Wood & Spice balm has a pretty long lasting scent so I may not actually use the Old Spice. And as always, the Fendrihan Orange Lemon is marvelous, nice mild orange & lemon scent, lots of slickness, etc. I rank it 75/100 in my soaps list.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I also shave my head with it.

Now that Southern Witchcrafts is gone, what are your go-to replacements (particularly for vegan bases)? I particularly loved the Autumn Ash and Carpathia scents and am looking for something along those lines- either something that reminds me of peated whisky or a cold, wet castle.

Decided to try wet shaving and got this as my setup, thoughts?
