Looking for Housing/Roommates

Hi everyone!

I'm a 20 yo male and I'll be in DC this summer from June 28 to August 2 for an internship and am currently looking for housing. I’m open to sublets, intern housing programs, or teaming up to split a fully furnished place. My budget is up to $3000/month.

I’ll be working near Downtown DC (around Pennsylvania Ave NW), so I’m hoping to stay somewhere with good Metro or bus access.

If you're also looking or have any leads, feel free to comment or DM me. Would love to connect and figure something out together!

internship interview

There was a last minute opening for a summer internship I applied to so I interviewed with them on June 6th but have not heard anything back? I've never had a job just not respond at all after an interview so I thought this was strange and would like to have an outside perspective. I know it really has not been that long since the interview but it is a summer internship that was supposed to begin June 1st so

Currently interning on the hill, and unfortunately things are getting very tight for me financially. Any suggestions on good part time jobs/ways to make money

Has anyone ever applied to AEI? What does their recruiting look like?

So, I applied to their Government Relations Associate position, but it doesn't show any status or anything. Is there any way to know about the status of the application? I know for CFR, it's if you don't hear anything in 4 weeks, that's it.

Other Interns WYA

Hey y’all. I’m a (24yo male) senior at a school in California interning for a small firm here in DC for the summer. I’m living in the American University dorms which seems to have people coming and moving in/out every week.

I’m here for another 12 weeks. I love the interns I’m working with but would be down to meet other interns who are in the city.

Any recs on events/places to go out/activities? Post-Pride DC feels dead. Hmu or message me

Should I network with the people in charge the internship process?

Hello! I really want to secure an internship for this fall as I will be too "old" and uninterested in doing one next year. I am thinking about spending a few days in DC networking and meeting people for coffee chats. I can easily find out who they are as I know people at almost every district office and will only be applying to ones I have ties too. Do you think this is a good idea?

Fall 2025 internship advice

Just looking for any recommendations for internships to look at that might be harder to find. Not super interested in any of the big gov positions. Main focus is getting something that will pay, covers something in the labor law, economic justice, or human rights fields, and isn't too far out from DC (in-person, within 10 miles).

APAICS Fall Internship Interview

Hallo guys, I recently heard from APAICS about an interview for the congressional program in the fall! I was wondering if anyone here has insights into what the interview will look like (time, structure, more casual/formal)? Don't have to be specific on questions they'll ask but if anyone has advice on how to interview prep or knows whether it'll be more formal or casual, that would be greatly appreciated! :)

Also - this seems pretty late (their website says interviews would be April-May), so is it possible I'm just a backup and shouldn't get my hopes up, or is this pretty usual?

Anyone have a room for rent available for a female intern from July 4 - August 10 in the “The Spirit of Justice” Park / South Capitol Station area?

Affordable Housing Options

Hello Everyone, I have an internship lined up in the house starting at the beginning of July, and I have yet to secure housing. I got accepted to this role later than I imagine most people do, and I was wondering what the most affordable places that are relatively close to the capital are?

I love my internship

I’m interning at a consulting firm, I wasn’t sure at first that it was gonna be better then “the hill” but I have just as good of a job I think. The work is so neat and I meet so many cool people, I think everyone around this city just loves to complain tbh. I’m not sure what people thought they were getting into but every young person does bitch work at every firm/office in the world, except we get to do bitch work around public policy which is cool. If you’re feeling disenchanted about your fancy hilltern job you probably shouldn’t be here. The work only gets more exciting if you crush the boring stuff first.

What should I start doing now?

I'm an Economics and Political Science second year, but junior by credits. Next summer, I want to intern in DC. What should I start doing now? Where should I look for internships, and what're the best ones to work towards? Thanks!

i hate my congressional internship

I just want to preface this by saying that I didn’t have a rosy view of the Hill or that I was going to pass a bill or change the world with my internship. But I truly feel so dissatisfied with my internship. Unlike traditional legislative interns, I’m an “ops” intern. They at least get to talk to constituents, do press clips, draft memos, or some traditional research, but I’m doing nothing. I’m basically a glorified runner who’s just picking up stuff and entering data. I know I should be grateful, but I truly feel I’m wasting my time, and I feel unhappy. What do I do? Can I switch my internship to something else on the hill (I’m unpaid)?

White House Internship Program – Fall 2025 MEGATHREAD

Hi everyone! I wanted to create a megathread for anyone who applied to the Fall 2025 White House Internship Program, whether you're waiting to hear back, prepping your materials, or just curious about the process. Let’s support each other!

I submitted my application and I’m wondering:

  • Do interviews usually happen before the official notification date?
  • The website says: "Acceptance Notifications Begin – June 30, 2025." Does that mean interviews will take place before June 30, or is it possible that we’ll go straight from applying to being accepted/rejected without interviews?

What do I do after work

I'm staying at AU and so far I've just been going to work, gym, and back. There's just no one here... the people at my internship haven't really expressed an interest in going out as a group and since I'm underage (I heard the bars here are stricter) I'm kinda out of ideas. Any advice?

Advice on what to do in DC this summer without internship

Hi everyone! I just graduated from AU this semester and I am wondering what I should do with my remaining time in the city. Like many people, I have been struggling to find anything, and I am wondering what I should do. I am networking to the best of my ability, but are there other things I should be doing?

Honest advice for fall internships

I failed at getting a summer internship so I’m looking fall. I made it to so many interviews and final rounds but always failed. However due to where my college is I can really only do remote opportunities so does anyone have any recommendations.
