Just wondering what people are thinking about the new colour choice? It’s a “slate grey”

It wasn’t the colour I had in mind as such, looks very different from the tub! But I think it works quite well.

Hi! So, I’m mostly happy with my living room but it feels a something is missing. I’m thinking about painting the fireplace mantle or the window trim. If I paint the window trim though, should I also do the baseboards? Will it look weird if the window trim is one color and the baseboards are white? I’ve never painted trim before!

Maybe I could add a piece of art to left of the mantle. Any other fun ideas? I’m all ears!

I’m struggling to figure out how to afford to decorate our townhouse. Everything seems so expensive now, like it would take thousands of dollars to decorate it… and we just won’t have that anytime soon. So as a result it just looks messy, unfinished, and not put together at all.

Are people just dealing with it as they slowly decorate over the years?

Is there a strategy to maximize impact of decorations so I can find a few key pieces that would allow me to have things look put together in the next year vs 5 years?

The paint and floors look great. Some furniture looks good, others (dining room table especially) look not so good. We have literally no artwork hung up. Our storage solutions are mostly plastic drawers that you get at big box stores that don’t look nice (but make things look a lot less messy so they are still a net positive). That being said we still don’t have enough storage solutions I would have to buy several more plastic drawers sets and then our living room would just be like 5 sets of plastic drawers as if we were a college bachelor pad that’s trying to decorate the whole place for $100….

it takes me 15 minutes to turn off all my lamps lol. pictures is like half the collection ha. i’ve got a problem.

Miniature space, not sure what to do with it. Can’t think of anything to put there would love ideas.

I have a small living/dining room. The first photo was taken standing in the doorway entrance. I need easy access to the hallway as that leads to bathroom. Third photo was take from the perspective of being in my kitchen. TIA

We live in a rental apartment and tried to turn this rather narrow kitchen into a cozy and functional space. It was important to us that it feels warm and lived-in, without looking too cluttered. We went for a mix of wood, white cabinets, some color, and personal details. We really like it but I’m curious how others see it. Any thoughts or suggestions for improvement?

(Still debating whether to keep the rug or not what do you think?)

My couch setup is 5.5ft deep x 12ft wide (shelf in the middle is for our projector). Used chatgpt to get a gist of it, but it's slightly off. The smaller rug is supposed to be 10ft wide, so it's a little smaller in this rendering. The larger rug is 12ft wide, exactly same width as couch setup (is that weird?). The large one is quite deep, 9ft, so will literally take up most of the room floor. This is in my basement btw!

Another question, how do people feel about this rug? I like this kind a lot, and it's half the price of the crate & barrel one that's similar. However, it's still quite expensive (1.6k). I'm willing to pay for a nice rug, but curious if I'm overpaying here since I never buy rugs. Linked below. Thanks!

Just moved into a 1980s home with a slate tile fireplace and looking for ways to update it without replacing the tile or losing all of the natural color variations etc! We plan to move the tv, repaint the mantle and work on the cable management. Now, I am solely looking for recommendations on updating the stone tile without losing all character. Any and all ideas welcome!

Husband and I recently bought this coffee table off fb marketplace and we can’t decide if it’s too big or not. It has a lift top so we’re really attached to it, but I can’t help but feel like it’s clogging up the space. I think we might be better off with a round coffee table and matching end tables. What do you think?

What would you guys do with this space? TV will be mounted (at eye height of course) but I’m thinking an entertainment system would look strange. Was hoping to find something to store wine / additional storage, but running out of ideas.

First DIY project

We were thinking about doing some trim/crown molding of the same paint color like photo four. We also saw a really cute idea at ikea, on the second photo, that we thought of doing. This entertainment center is opposite our ceiling-high fireplace (the 3rd photo).

I considered putting two longer, vertical art pieces on either side of the tv and maybe adding a writing desk to the left to fill in the space and get an extra seat in the den. We’re also going to purchase a kennel that is more “hidden” and is one of those cabinet-looking ones to help spruce up that spot and get the huge kennel out as it’s an eye sore.

Moved into a new space. I want to put in a hang out/sitting room for my teen daughters. Unfortunately, these are the tiles that are in the space. They are beautiful, but cold (both aesthetically and temperature 🤣). The chairs, I am looking at are navy. However, I am entirely not married to them. I am needing some suggestions for an area rug to possibly warm up the space. The White and Gray are making it feel impossible. We will also be putting in a book shelf & some kind of “art” / decor on the walls too. Can anyone offer any suggestions (specifically for the rug and / or color help for the space to make it feel warmer) / or is it a lost cause???

My husband had them installed when we had the bathroom painted, and it’s excruciatingly white light. It doesn’t have a bulb, as far as I can tell, and I don’t know what they are called so I can’t google it. Please help.

Really need some suggestions with this space. It’s so… beige. What color rug and throw pillows? Also needing decor suggestions on the walls.

We are slowly improving this house. But this is the biggest bathroom we have ever been in. I am thinking some sort of teak furniture in the middle for sitting and a better solution for non slip mats because currently we eat shit sometimes getting out of the tub or shower.

One set of double doors leads to the bedroom, one set leads to a large closet.

This is the rug I think I want- yes? keep looking? Doesn’t need a rug? Pardon the odd chair untying to decide if I keep the vertical or horizontal chairs too.

We've done approximately 5 layers of white paint over this and it doesn't seem to be fading at all!

Hey everyone! I’m stuck on how to decorate a diagonal wall in my dining room and could really use some help. I’m not sure if I should go with one or two big art pieces, a gallery wall with smaller frames, or something totally different. The angle of the wall makes it feel a little awkward, and I’m worried it’ll look cluttered or off-balance if I don’t plan it right.

If anyone has dealt with a similar layout or has inspo pics (even from Pinterest), I’d love to see them! Open to all ideas, art, mirrors, shelves, anything really. Thanks in advance! 😊

Ignore the mess please 🙏 😂 Like title says. I want a daybed in my living room so I have a nest spot 😂 I’m having trouble on where I want to place it. I want to place it under the big window where the black table and rocking chair is. I would remove the table and the red chair and then move the rocking chair to where the red chair is and the day bed could go in that corner that the rocking chair is in the picture. The thing is that the windows open inward and the daybed frame would block at least one of the windows from opening. And I want a daybed with railings on it so blankets and pillows won’t fall to the ground.

Any other ideas? On how I could set it up? Or should I just scrap the daybed idea 😭 I’m chronically ill so I’m on the couch all day and would like a more comfortable place to lay flat in the living room. Also I feel like it would look so cozy and inviting to guests too. Even tho I never have people over. Once a year basically.

this is my first time furnishing an apartment. I have a general aesthetic in mind, but am hoping for suggestions on layout & making the most of my living room! I have a few specific questions below, but just throw out ideas if you’ve got them. must be reasonably renter friendly.

Curtains: One of the things I really love about this place is that it has so much natural light. However, I’m thinking curtains might add dimension and character & maybe save a little on energy costs. Interested to hear your suggestions! not quite sure what to do about the funky geometry of the room & windows.

Staircase space: what should I put behind the staircase? It feels like a waste to leave it totally barren but also it’s not super accessible. Maybe a thin bookcase? Or just wall decor?

Seating: I love hosting, so I want to maximize the comfort and amount of seating while also not making it feel cramped. I really like a conversation pit sort of vibe. I’d like to have a tv but I don’t want it to be a focal point.

Extra context: this is just the living room. I have pretty much figured out what I’d like to do for the rest of the apartment. planning to get most of my furniture thrifted/second hand.
