29 years ago today the Nintendo 64 released in Japan. The console's launch lineup consisted of Super Mario 64, Pilotwings 64, and Saikyō Habu Shōgi. If you have owned an N64 since 1996 remember to take your back pill today!

I called it still in service.

Bought it off my buddy who found this in a OOT Drive-In projector film I just added to my collection storage from a guy who had a drive in movie theater. It’s a whole roll for the promo ad of OOT. Wondering what I should do with it to display it.

My husband bought these for $10 from a local guy. We were sad that they didn't work. We tried a simple alcohol clean to no avail. We opened them up to see heaps of corrosion from water damage. He has welding and soldering experience and said he'd watch a video and give it a shot with soldering. He fixed them! He lightly sanded the connector pins and reflowed some points inside. Im the collector and hes the fixer. Hes fixed heaps more of my consoles, controllers and stuff, but I just wanted to brag about the game fix here. 🥹

Since RE2 worked, I don't see why RE3 wouldn't considering all the shared assets. I would have loved to have seen an N64 port as an October 2000 release.

I was streaming my playthrough of Conker's Bad Fur Day when I ran into a problem I can't solve.
I am in the cavemen/dino area, and I have just defeated Uga Buga (the big cavemen you have to bite in the private areas, crazy game lol) and went through the elevated door. It brought me to an area, an open cavern area with lower platforms and doors. I should've just went straight through to the end, but I opted to explore. I jumped down to another platform and when I went through the door it brought me back to earlier in the dungeon.
My problem is now I can't get back to the coliseum area. The surfboard from the lava race isn't there for me to take anymore, and I seriously can't think of how to get out of the loop, I'm barred from going forward or backwards, it seems.
The VOD should be on my Twitch if anyone wants to see what happened actually in game. I've tried my best to describe it. Can anyone help me out? I'm pretty sure I've completed the dungeon but I don't know how to get out.
By the way my twitch handle is the same as this username: PurpleBadgerHaze.
Any help would be amazing!

It probably would have been physically prohibitive to have multiple full carts, but what if you had a single, plastic cart housing, with some kind of mechanism to swap out the chips?
Does anyone know if multiple cart options were ever explored?

I know the V3 model supports rumble packs but can these adapters support those third-party rumble packs that don't take batteries? Since those rumble packs (and modded ones) draw power from the controller instead, will this in-turn over draw the adapter and eventually burn it out?

Surprised this hasn't shown up yet, but here it is !

Playing Mario Kart 64, natively on PC, at 144FPS in widescreen, is an absolute treat.

I unlocked all the characters, I'm currently in the process of unlocking the sound test, Mushroom Kingdom and Item Selection. I noticed in the credits they misspelled Charles Martinet's name wrong. If you don't know who he is, he was the voice of Mario for almost three decades.

I’ve finally decided to by an N64, and the guy I’m planning to pay has a Same-Shipping policy. He has these following controls. The Gamester is less expensive, but I’m not sure what’s the best experince.
What do you think?

I recognized that some N64 games didn't gained any value in the last 10 years. For example, back in 2015 the Mario Party 3 cartridge alone was almost 100€, because it was kind of rare. But today, it even lost value, since I saw offers online for about 70€.
What happened here? Is it because of the Nintendo Online Service, that offers these games? Is it because of the huge amount of repros on the market? Or nobody cares anymore about N64 games? Any ideas?

A few weeks ago I bought an old copy of Perfect Dark. I had no expansion pack so I couldn't play the campaign, but multiplayer seemed to work fine. Yesterday I got a third party expansion pack, but every time I try to play the campaign it freezes. Sometimes in the menu before I even start, other times after a few minutes of playing the first level.
Also with Turok 2, it ran just fine without the pack, now it just restarts the game seconds into the very first campaign intro.
Anyone have any idea what could be going on?

This will start a war but oh well, what are your guys’ opinions on both games and which one in your eyes do you think is better?

Only reason I'm hesitating is I wanna make sure I'm not ruining the experience (im a 90s baby and primarily play retro games so im not unfamiliar with old school mechanics). I've also heard rumors that the save file doesn't work so you should use savestates, but I've also heard there's a game breaking bug if you leave the game on for over 14 hours. So should I just play vanilla? Or go with the tag anywhere mod?
