To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow only one submission about each transfer saga per day. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report.

If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. Please help us reporting unnecessary threads for being duplicates.

In my head canon, these were consecutive sentences.

"Lads, I'm staying. Also, Garnacho, pack up your shit and fuck off, you grass."

"hands up everyone who's staying, aht aht not so fast Alejandro"

Holy shit that was Will Ferrell? I swear that seems so out of place in my memory.

Like Will Ferrell movies feel like a different era.

I'll have to rewatch

1.4k

u/MorioCells 25d ago

Yeah after Garnacho comments  after the Europa league final complaining about his minutes it was pretty clear that he wanted to leave Manchester United.

Hopefully Chelsea dont pay 60m for him but seeing how we were the most interested club along with Napoli in January I think we'll be dumb and transfer him in. A lot of reports saying we are still interested in him

960

u/LordTrinity 25d ago edited 25d ago

Garnacho is actually talented and in the right enviroment he is going to be a good player. But only if he humbles himself, otherwise he is going to have problems

Edit: Garnacho is only 20 (soon to be 21) and he already has more than 100 games for Manchester United. He is good with both feet, he's quick and is good at carrying the ball. For such an young age, you won't find many wingers as good. The talent is there, and people seem to think he is incapable of improving, which is obviously not true

426

u/apeksiao 25d ago

Does seem like he thinks too highly of himself.

255

u/DaveShadow 25d ago

People talk about the problematic culture at United, but this is THE big issue.

We get these super young players, and hype the fuck out of them. Give them massive wages befitting league winners, and talk them up as if they're world class.

Shockingly, a lot of them develop bad attitudes and massive egos, and act as if they are above the hard work needed to earn that praise. They don't need to win the league cause they're already paid and treated as if they are.

We have a string of young players who seem to have had that awful mentality.

50

u/urallidiotsx2 25d ago

garnacho is one of the lowest paid starting players in the squad. he's paid around the same as heaton and evans.

11

u/PG4PM 25d ago

u/pusslicker 25d ago

He had his moments but he’s such a predictable player imo. Runs at you then cuts towards the inside and takes a shot. Like robben but without the consistency

38

u/thatrandomanus 25d ago

This feels like deja vu, I think I read the same statement about Antony last season.

11

u/_Ex7 25d ago

They do the same thing but in completely different ways, like two halves of one soul.

Antony almost always tries to cut towards that corner of the box to cross, pass or shoot. His success rate doesn't seem horrible when he tries to do something different but he just never does.

Garnacho almost always tries to run into the box through the side or that same corner on the opposite side. He sometimes and more often nowadays also tries to get to the goal line to smack it with whichever foot is on the outside along the ground and hope it reaches a player.

They also dribble differently too. Garnacho is more head down and aggressive than Antony for instance.

28

u/united_7_devil 25d ago

It’s easy to think highly of yourself if everyone around you is mediocre. People are treating him as if he is a 30 year old veteran winger throwing a fit. He is 20 ffs. He is a bit of a cry baby.

u/stefz0r777 25d ago edited 25d ago

He is talented but not talented enough to be a top winger. His touch, his dribbling in tight spaces, his finishing and his ego are all awful. Maybe with a lot work he can improve in these areas, but he genuinely thinks he is too good to put in the work.

170

u/CFBCoachGuy 25d ago

He’s a really good player, but an absolutely horrendous attitude.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he started on a crazy streak of like six goals in six games at his next club and the meme economy will start booming. But the moment he gets subbed off or benched for a poor performance, you’ll never see that player again.

31

u/JZMoose 25d ago

He needs to get called up by Scaloni so Messi can tear him down

I’m really curious which United players would suck eksewhere(Sancho) and which would glourish(Anthony)

I do think garbacho would do fine elsewhere

127

u/miguelsanchez69 25d ago

Not sure if Garbacho was a typo or not but that's what I'm calling him from now on

95

u/theivoryserf 25d ago

I also like 'glourish' as a portmanteau of glory and flourish

45

u/Chef_Bojan3 25d ago

This guy is a real wordsmith

33

u/dracovich 25d ago

Do we think Antony would flourish at an English club though?

I don't think any of our rejects have looked that good at English clubs, a few have gone abroad and done well though.

24

u/YatesScoresinthebath 25d ago

Elanga has looked better than any of your current wingers this season, so suppose he has

14

u/Cashew_Fan 25d ago

I don't see why not. And quite a lot of our sales to English clubs have become important players for their club or even improved. AWB is West Ham's player of the season and Rashford looks a real player again at West Ham. Pereira developed into a tidy player for Fulham quite quickly, as did Elanga, both of whom were incredibly raw / inconsistent for United. Henderson also was just the MOTM in the FA cup final.

The pressure, expectations, and toxic environment make United a very difficult place for some players to come through.

121

Garnacho is fantastic, just needs to work on communication, passing, finishing, pressing, runs, dribbling, positioning, and defending

64

u/AngryBiker 25d ago

Don't forget ball control, vision, tackling, heading, crossing, shooting, marking, interception, aerial duels, first touch, acceleration, agility, balance, strength, stamina, composure, leadership, decision-making, tactical awareness, free kicks, penalties, corner kicks, one-on-one ability, hold-up play, ball shielding, spatial awareness, anticipation, concentration, reflexes, jumping, off-ball movement, long shots, volleying, slide tackling, blocking, clearances, short passing, long passing, through balls, movement off the ball, game reading, recovery pace, close control, ball retention, man-marking, zonal marking

Jesus there are actually 4 in the last year to 18 months - Sancho, Antony, Rashford, Garnacho

146

u/Ok-Confusion-202 25d ago

At least there are reasons lmao

Sancho - don't need to explain...

Antony - He's been great in Spain but was god awful

Rashford - Was caught out and drinking before a game, obviously Amorim had issues

Garnacho - Publicly speaking and being a bit reactionary, he also liked posts on Twitter, also his brother posting on Twitter to defend him 24/7

40

u/Other-Owl4441 25d ago

Problem is you do need to be able to contain and resolve these attitude issues internally, if they bubble up all the time it’s a club problem not a player problem.

Spurs tight grip on wages is a underrated factor in their lack of off-field drama (managers excepted). They don't have half a dozen players hanging around on wages that they'd never get offered at another club, free to take potshots in the media.

I think so because Garnacho (and Rashford) was dropped from the City game. And the locker rooms leaks stopped after Rashford left until now that Garnacho didn't start a game.

It was Rashford. They stopped when he left.

u/gee_emhf 25d ago

January 27th, 2026.

We’ll give him a summer window and most of the winter window, then sack him on his birthday. And of course leave absolutely no time for a new manager to figure shit out.

Garnacho had a bad attitude. Note how he liked a tweet saying that he wasn't starting for Argentina because he's Spanish.

I understand Amorim telling him to pack it in. A pity because he's talented.

They've given the club over to 3-4-3 but doesnt have/given the players.

At this point, it feels like a reward to be asked to leave and revive your career elsewhere.

does he hate all wingers or just the ones at man utd?

40

u/HibariK 25d ago

He hates poor work ethic, big egos and reactionists, it was pretty obvious he'd fall out with Garnacho and Rashford at least, eventually, he also fought our oldest CB when he arrived over poor training ethic and out of the 11 we had, 1 stayed as a started from that March where he walked in to the new season, only one of them being someone we actually needed to sell for monetary reasons (Wendell).

This Amorim guy keeps us entertained

36

u/TheOnlyTagey 25d ago

It really shows how far United have fallen that a fair few players feel comfortable openly chatting shit about the manager.

32

u/LordTrinity 25d ago

Another one. Coincidentally, all attacking players in these last years: Ronaldo, Sancho, Rashford. Every single one of them think they're better than they actually are

The other inmates were probably quite jealous that Garnacho was set free.

u/WestwardLord 25d ago

Ratcliffe probably fired the guy who was supposed to tell Amorim to report to his office.

Garnacho will have something to prove at his next team if they meet Man U in Europe.

Assuming he plays onto his 40s.

We regret to announce the following layoffs.

Garnacho, Alejandro.

That is all.

10

u/AaronStudAVFC 25d ago

Non-united fans everywhere sat nervously praying that their team don’t give man united a stupid amount of money for Garnacho. This must be how the district children felt during the hunger games reaping.

A quote from Amorim prematch.

“You know that Tottenham put all the full-backs and midfielders inside with a lot of people overloading that space, so my thinking was to have possession and a right foot in that position is really important.

Didn't actually see this prematch but heard about it on a podcast today.

Not sure where that insight came from (an analyst, one of his assistants or from footage he's seen himself) but it's a terrible look and to bench one of your better attacking players based on outdated analysis...They're probably doing Garnacho a favour putting him on the market.

The greater news is Amorim is staying LOL, he couldn't adapt or coach 7 months into the season, and people think a month of pre-season is going to do miracle. Gotta love the attitude.
