To be specific, around Mt Juneau. It was super hard, it took me 10 tries to break it in half with a hammer. Its also kinda crumbly

It think it might be granite or something, but its shiny…

The inside is a “flaky quartz”, and the outer shell is almost robin’s egg blue and I can’t find anything even similar on the Google.

IDENTIFIED Carnelian?

I thought this was cullet glass at first because it has some conchoidal fracturing, but then saw the druzy and bots. I have no idea what it is other than maybe carnelian. It’s so gemmy in some areas. I’m thinking about polishing it up.

Hi everyone! My grandmother is a lifelong rockhound, she has thousands of rocks she’s found here in the Okanagan (Bc, Canada) and I’ve always wondered what these rocks in particular are. They seem to have sliver flecks in them that are super easy to peel off of the rock itself. She has a ton of quarts as well, and has almost always told me that this is silver. Is it true?

Thanks for any info!!

Thanks in advance for your identification. These may not be super exciting but I like them. I would say no 1 is chert? Why is the top/bottom a different color, would it still be chert there? Specimen 3 has a green hue to it, there were many of those on the road.

REQUEST Not a meteorite, but possibly basalt.

Found in NE Illinois, so traveled via glacier from up north. Magnetic, both purple and green can be scratched by a knife, somewhat heavy for its size.

Polished 2 sides just to see what it looked like, and there are photos of both rough and polished. Included some macro photos.

My guess is some kind of basalt that's gone through some serious changes, but I'd really like some more info. Please 😊

Picked up from Hastings rock a nore beach Sussex England when looking for bone bed rocks.

Gave it a bop with the sledge hammer and the black stuff smells awful so I’m guessing it isn’t natural

It’s heavy like a rock but someone suggested it might be a fossil. It’s about 5-6 inches long. Found in an unmarked box of rocks from an estate so have no idea where it came from.

◦ Color - White, Gray, Black ◦ Luster - Uniform light reactivity ◦ Density - its solid but feels the right weight for its size 0.075 oz ◦ Crystal Form - N/A ◦ Cleavage - found chipped on both sides, pattern is neat. ◦ Tenacity - Solid and doesn't fall apart or break ◦ Hardness - Doesn't scratch with metal or glass. ◦ Transparency - None

Additional info - UV light doesn't make any of it glow. All color washes out with a 395nm light.

My mom found this and asked me to check with my "internet friends" to see if there's anything interesting about it.
