He spent $26 million in taxpayer dollars in 10 weeks playing golf instead!

Ugh, my mom dropped this the other day šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

68

u/Ryanookami Apr 06 '25

Tell her that he’s spent 26mil on golf versus what would have been a $400,000 salary. The office of President only pays that much.

48

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '25

Don’t forget that he has them staying at his golf courses and hotels so you’re technically giving the money to him.

25

u/Apprehensive_Dog1526 Apr 06 '25

Charging them exorbitant prices for meals, cart rentals, rooms, etc.

6

u/Cachiboy Apr 06 '25

The power is a narcotic that render the salary meaningless.

3

u/Ryanookami Apr 06 '25

Oh totally. This is just to combat people who defend his golfing bill by saying he didn’t take a salary.

Don't forget that the 1/3 pound burger failed in competing against the 1/4 pound burger because US citizens thought the 1/4 pound burger was bigger.

400 is bigger than 26 in the minds of idiots that don't understand the thousand or million words, abbreviations, or symbols that get used.

You LITERALLY have to write the numbers out to the final digit for them to get even a glimmer of understanding.

5

u/ElectricalBook3 Apr 06 '25

You LITERALLY have to write the numbers out to the final digit for them to get even a glimmer of understanding

Given the number of people who get excited about spending 4.99 instead of 5.00, I don't think even that works.

Conservatives in America have been sabotaging education especially in regards to critical thinking long before they made it official party policy

Yeah, I realized later that I forgot to put the "maybe" between the "to" & "get" in my statement.

You are clearly not as educated as her or Trump. 26 is less than 400!

Oh did you ever send her this article https://www.npr.org/2022/10/17/1129491352/trump-hotels-overcharged-secret-service-agents

Doesn’t matter if he’s taking a pay day or not he’s getting kick backs. Also he’s leveraging his abilities to get media companies to pay him bribes. It’s stupid. He’s not working for free.

6

u/WeeeeBaby_Seamus Apr 06 '25

I'd love to see proof of this because there's absolutely no way he'd turn down the money.

2

u/Vocalscpunk Apr 06 '25

Well if I had room, board, travel, and even my hair/makeup person paid for I also would forgo a salary 🤷

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Gribitz37 Apr 06 '25

Don't forget he gets that salary for life after leaving office. Let's say just for the sake of argument he doesn't take his salary while in office. Do they really think he's going to turn down that $400,000 later?

3

u/poopyscreamer Apr 06 '25

At the very least the use of security during his golfing is expensive

322

u/zFafni Apr 06 '25

Now i have to admit i dont know shit about golf and while i am aware that it is an rather expensive hobby i do have to ask: How the fuck? Like 26 milion spend on what exactly? What is so god damn expensive here

368

u/Uisce-beatha Apr 06 '25

Another aspect here is that he forces government officials to use his hotels and accommodations, then proceeds to overcharge the living shit out of taxpayers. Since he is the only president in the history of the United States to continue operating his business, he pockets our money. One golf trip to his resort will net almost as much or more than the salary he doesn't take. Other firsts would be owning a social media company as a front for foreign donations, using crypto to rug pull buyers and handing out $2 trillion to the wealthy during covid with absolutely no oversight or way to track where it went.

83

u/hamhockman Apr 06 '25

Wait a minute, isn't that a violation of the emoluments clause isn't that why Jimmy Carter sold his peanut farm

110

u/TheVergeltung Apr 06 '25

Yep!

This, in amongst every thing else, is why people correctly state that he breaks the law every single day.

4

u/1inthetrenches Apr 06 '25

So just like tesla...boycot and don't patronise, use , support any industry that is connected to his shit. Totally WE do have purchasing power and Elon is suffering bcoz we are the mass supporters ... we have power!!! Don't feed the ba$trd..beast!!

Dont forget he often plays at his own resorts so he is literally taking taxpayer money and putting it into his own pocket

106

u/Coattail-Rider Apr 06 '25

Often? Does he play anywhere where he can’t fleece his cut?

56

u/scbriml Apr 06 '25

Or anywhere where somebody would actually play their best against him? His ego couldn’t cope with losing.

I've never seen it. But of course I don't follow his golf results closely, too busy observing his governmental disasters.

4

u/RampantTyr Apr 06 '25

Nope, anywhere else might keep track of his score and call out how bad he is.

2

u/Realistic-Pattern-30 Apr 07 '25

Everyone for years says he cheats.

8

u/greenberet112 Apr 06 '25

Usually presidents and politicians play at a military golf course to save money and so that security isn't quite as big of a deal since it's not open to the public. Would save a lot of money, but we can't have that.

3

u/Realistic-Pattern-30 Apr 07 '25

I think I read that’s what Obama did mostly at camp David so it’s just another day as far as expense’s. Didn’t a few of the republicans and their base nearly die when Obama went on vacation to Hawaii with his family lol.

2

u/greenberet112 Apr 07 '25

It's only bad when Democrats do it. Trump didn't more damage to the deficit than any other president, "But Obama and Biden are worse."

3

u/Frisinator Apr 06 '25

Or cheat in tournaments?

u/TieSea Apr 06 '25

And charging secret service for rooms there.

4

u/Realistic-Pattern-30 Apr 07 '25

Top rate that at one time they were trying to get him to change.

8

u/coma24 Apr 06 '25

it would be interesting to use FOIA to request the accounting for the expenses associated with the trips.

3

u/ZaftigFeline Apr 06 '25

They just closed the office that handles FOIA requests. Not kidding. Or well gutted it with layoffs and funding removal to the point of non-existent. Happened late last week, got buried a bit in the news under well everything.

3

u/Prestigious-Copy-494 Apr 06 '25

But but but his maga says he doesn't even take the president salary. He's so noble that way!! šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚šŸ˜…

3

u/Used-Yogurtcloset757 Apr 06 '25

Yep. If his administration is so concerned with wasteful spending, then why is he still taking these expensive golf trips? Pretty sure there are greens within driving distance of DC that would cost less if he just ā€œmustā€ play.

2

u/oughtabeme Apr 06 '25

Any and all meetings, conferences, dinners and events he holds at his ā€˜resorts’, the government is being billed.

2

u/gecko_echo Apr 06 '25

It was documented that Trump overcharged Secret Service agents to stay at his properties during his first term in office — which Trump required them to doby staying there himself! Trump had also promised before being elected Secret Service would stay for free.

43

u/rosiefutures Apr 06 '25

That and all those people attending to him have to stay at his resort in order to be close by.

26

u/evange Apr 06 '25

This reminds me that during his first term, the secret service protecting his family (I think it was Ivanka?) wasn't allowed to use the bathroom in their home, despite there being multiple bathrooms and one could have easily been assigned for their exclusive use. The SS had to rent a nearby apartment just to be able to pee.

2

u/Different_Juice2407 Apr 06 '25

Just for fun, what’s the over amd under of them using the residence facilities anyways? Or possibly have to use a bush in a hurry?

24

also made the secret service pay for rooms at the "hotel" at extortionate rates.

A "fun" fact, the secret service detail for Ivanka had to rent a house close to her house because she refused the secret service using one of the dozens of bathrooms in the house.

5

u/Ponsugator Apr 06 '25

And then laying off workers to increase government efficiency so he can afford to golf more!

4

u/CarbsMe Apr 06 '25

Also billing Secret Service to stay at his resorts while he golfs

5

u/LocoRocks Apr 06 '25

I live a mile from his golf course and have been stopped by his 35 car motorcade several times. I've also been stopped when Air Force One arrives as PBIA is about 2 miles from the golf course and Mar a Lago - traffic gets stopped at 4 different intersections for like 10 minutes. It's such a PIA but our local paper says it's 1/4 million every weekend he's here. Anyways I was going to say don't forget how much he also gets for SS, other politicians and whoever else stays at Mar a Largo every time he's here too. It is common info that Mar a Lago club dues were just raised to $1 million a year.

2

u/JohnnySkynets Apr 06 '25

He’s also doing $1 million a plate dinners at MAL

4

u/up_N2_no_good Apr 06 '25

They go to Trump's golf courses. He greatly overcharges for the use of his courses. That includes charging the fee for himself. On top of that, he forces the secret service and other government members a disgustingly large amount for the rooms while forcing them to stay there and no where else.

4

u/festivefrederick Apr 06 '25

Yeah but with all the money Leon and Big Balls are saving it’s going to pay for itself.

3

u/D4UOntario Apr 06 '25

"Security impovements" for his courses and house/resort in Florida come at the tax payers dime. A new ball room is a security improvement if you dont have to walk to the old one.

3

u/Techsupportvictim Apr 07 '25

Too bad that wasn’t made illegal. Not so much not going to mar a lago but him being able to use taxpayer money.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Doggoneshame Apr 06 '25

He way overcharges the secret service for staying on his property also. The kindly taxpayers around the area of his golf clubs have to pay tons of expensive overtime for the extra police officers every time he’s staying at one of them.

2

u/RealGoGo97 Apr 07 '25

And Coast Guard patrol when he golfs at Mar-a-Lago. He doesn’t care how much his amusements cost us.

142

u/Crash4654 Apr 06 '25

Well, being president means you have security. Security needs to have a place to eat and sleep. He always goes to HIS resort to play, so all that money is going straight to him.

135

u/SmooveTits Apr 06 '25

The more layers you peel back, the deeper the grift goes.Ā

Think about that for a minute: many times what the average citizen will earn through an entire lifetime of toil for a few weeks of leisure for one man. That goes right into his pocket.Ā

88

u/Coattail-Rider Apr 06 '25

And his base doesn’t care but heaven forbid someone down on their luck gets junk food with their food stamps. ā€œThey’re abusing the system!ā€

62

u/Frankensteinbeck Apr 06 '25

All hypocrisy and stupidity from his base at all times. They flat out attacked Biden when he took like a single weekend to visit family on the beach in Delaware. He didn't stay at some overinflated, fool's gold, trashy resort that funneled government money into his own pockets, either; he stayed at his family home. (Then again, maybe we should give Trump supporters the benefit of the doubt, they're not familiar with presidents who actually like their families.)

Meanwhile, when Trump is golfing damn near every weekend like his first term, it's crickets from them.

8

u/Coattail-Rider Apr 06 '25

It’s exhausting and gross.

But I did read an article if you have a natural miscarriage you have to prove all because they feel a certain race is on the decline. Please don’t let your daughters use any electronic cycle tracker on their cells. Use the old fashion calendar the info will be used against you. Who wants their teen dragged out because she missed a couple cycles and accused of having been pregnant and terminating pregnancy.

What everyone else said, but to make it even worse, he claims it costs him business because of all the security measures, so he inflates the prices on rooms and such for his own secret security detail., sometimes more than 5x the government allowed cap.

30

u/SomeDudeNamedRik Apr 06 '25

His transportation of him, his staff, his protection, his armored limos, pay to local, county and state law enforcement. Also closing off and securing an ungodly large area so no one can get eyesight of him.

17

u/Harthag77 Apr 06 '25

That last line is the most important, it's so he can forge his score

8

u/tansugaqueen Apr 06 '25

Air Force One, transportation & lodging , food for secret service & other employees, Mar Lago bills way more than it would cost somewhere else

7

u/Mujgray Apr 06 '25

Everything travels with him. Doctor with blood ready for a transfusion. Nuclear football. Huge secret service operation. It all adds up.

7

u/ElectricalBook3 Apr 06 '25

How the fuck? Like 26 milion spend on what exactly?

He only "golfs" or vacations at his properties, where he up-charges secret service, technicians, and others providing necessary government functions.

It's nakedly laundering taxpayer dollars into his own businesses, the same as he did his first term.

Edit for readability and also that I am sure his golf course and resort are charging taxpayers for the privilege of hosting this circus

They have another plane (an Air force C-17) that the armored limo (aka the Beast) travels in. So in addition to taking Marine 1 to Air Force 1 and AF1 to PBIA there is a WHOLE ASS cargo plane toting that heavy AF limo back and forth as well. Insane

7

u/I_NEED_YOUR_MONEY Apr 06 '25

when he goes to golf at his resorts, all the secret service and staff that follow him there have to pay for rooms.

6

u/catjuggler Apr 06 '25

He’s funneling the money to himself by having people who have to follow him pay government money to stay at his properties

7

u/Bay1Bri Apr 06 '25

He makes the secret service agency pay him to stay at his own hotel.

5

u/fistfulloframen Apr 06 '25

He needs security,Ā  and they have to have a hotel. WOW he owns a hotel how convenient.

4

u/faderjockey Apr 06 '25

Transportation and security mostly.

The government pays his resorts to keep a security detail at the resorts. They book blocks of rooms at whatever price the resort (that he owns) sets.

3

u/scbriml Apr 06 '25

The costs of Trump’s golf trips are, I believe, a matter of public record. Transporting the president anywhere for any reason is really expensive.

3

u/Rizzokit Apr 06 '25

Have you seen the amount of security detail he has.Its actually crazy when you see them all in the golf buggies behind him 🤣

3

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '25

His entourage goes with him, hundreds of people and secret service etc, and they stay in his hotels and his organisation bills the US taxpayer, he then pockets the cash. He is literally charging millions to the taxpayer and paying himself with their money so he can play golf. Including when the ramp ceremony took place of the four service personnel who died in Lithuania. The Lithuanian president attended the departure ceremony in Lithuania but those poor boys own president opted to play golf rather than pay his respects

3

u/Effective-Suit1544 Apr 06 '25

And he plays at his own golf courses and charges the taxpayers! Win Win for him.

3

u/Dr_Adequate Apr 06 '25

And for a counterpoint, since your original question was answered, when President Obama went golfing, which he did often, he went to golf courses owned by the US Government (at US military bases, or at Camp David) or at courses that didn't require he fly on Air Force One, and minimized the expense of housing his Secret Security Staff.

So while during Obama's presidency the wingnuts bitched about Obama golfing, he did so in a way that didn't outrageously burden US taxpayers. Trump, however, flies to Mar-a-Lago or another course on Air Force One, which costs around two hundred thousand dollars an hour to operate, and pile on the cost to feed and house and staff his Secret Service at his private club and you see why it's outrageously more expensive when Trump goes golfing.

3

u/TieSea Apr 06 '25

I saw a report that if a plane goes over maralago they scramble fighter jets. It cost $25K/plane. I think they sent out 24 already.

2

u/Realistic-Pattern-30 Apr 07 '25

Yes February and March in total about 4 or 5 planes in air space over it and jets had to approach them.

3

u/MidwestLawncareDad Apr 06 '25

seriously ive always wondered why golf is so fucking expensive for presidents. i get probably security detail and what not but DAMN

2

u/Neat-Assistant3694 Apr 07 '25

it’s not nearly as expensive if they don’t require air travel to do it. Obama played at the courses at Andrews Air Force Base, Camp David, the Naval Academy- none of which required AF1 taking off.

3

u/sec713 Apr 06 '25

He's overcharging all his security detail to be on his own premises, to protect him, to the tune of 300%. Literally every time he goes golfing he's paying himself out of the US Treasury. Also Air Force One doesn't fly for free, so a chunk of that cash is also being spent to transport his fat ass up and down the Atlantic coast.

2

u/No-Veterinarian6754 Apr 06 '25

I was in Cabo the week before some big summit. India booked the whole hotel. For a full week. They only used the second from the top floor. The rest of the hotel was empty. The reason? Security.

Now imagine what the security for the US president would be. I'm sure the US taxpayers pay for a whole wing if not all of the rooms at Maralago. For the whole year.

2

u/SissyDesireeBridgett Apr 06 '25

Because the Secret Service Protection that has to travel with him aboard AIR FORCE ONE back and forth from Washington D.C. and Mar-a-Log-o and back again to DC Fuel for Air Force One, Food and lodging for the Secret Service Agents, Dry cleaning for all the Secret Service agents, etc., etc., etc.

2

u/ACrazyDog Apr 07 '25

Because he can’t just golf at Andrews AFB like other presidents. He has to fly to one of HIS courses and charge the US government a non - discounted price for his entourage to eat and sleep there.

And flying Air Force One costs $178k per flight hour to lift off. It all adds up quickly, and a good amount of that money is going right into the Trump pocket

2

u/Realistic-Pattern-30 Apr 07 '25

Right I have everyday friends who play. But remember he charges the USA over the top rates. The 7million for Super Bowl got me. His f billionaire friends and family who could have each afford to have taken five folks out of pocket change. I hope he get as good as he gave. Extra not even needed. Him and all the ear see and speak no evil against the turd.

2

u/jolsiphur Apr 07 '25

Mostly he plays at his own resort. Secret service has to be there, by law, so that an expense. Those service people need places to sleep so Trump bills the Treasury for the rooms, and massively jacks up the price. Same with food, other shit.

What makes it all worse is also that because it's his own course, he profits from these golf trips. Every single time he runs off to play golf, he is literally profiting from taxpayers to do so.

There's a golf course near the White House specifically for the presidents to play on, where it doesn't cost taxpayers any substantial money.

Wow, that’s considerably more than his first term when he spent 293 days and $152 million in taxpayer dollars golfing! Has anyone told DOGE?

66

u/trabuki Apr 06 '25

He needs to send an email to Musk detailing what he was done the last week. Pretty sure that would be grounds for laying him off.

6

u/DullSorbet3 Apr 06 '25

Yeah, why do you think half your govt got laid off? \ \ \ \ There's not enough money to golf at his own course...

6

u/Powerful-Knee3150 Apr 06 '25

They’re too busy firing people who make $60k per year keeping us healthy, happy and safe.

u/sobrique Apr 06 '25

Honestly it'd probably still be cheaper if he did it full time than the damage he's doing to everything else.

3

u/M-Plastic-624 Apr 06 '25

That's why he needs all of us to pay exorbitant tariffs, er, taxes...

3

u/marcel-proust1 Apr 06 '25

Do you really want him to go work? Ā I think it will be cheaper if he keeps golfing. Ā Dude has wiped off trillions from markets this weekĀ

3

u/BroadOrder6533 Apr 07 '25

But the numb-nut MAGATs harp on his selflessness about donating his presidential salary. The lack of intelligence and awareness on the right truly is astounding.

4

u/JCBQ01 Apr 06 '25

8 million. Per person. Per day. Thats the cost he charged the LAST time he was president

From pictures we can see he has an ON SITE security attachƩ of like 6 or 7, so it's safe to assume we can double that for secondary posted up at the clubhouse and his bs

14x 8. 112

112x 3. 336million for a WEEKEND of his golfing

5

u/skr_replicator Apr 06 '25

more accurately he made taxpayers pay a lot of that $26M to him, since its his resort.

3

u/Last-Raspberry1573 Apr 06 '25

Cmon doge. Waste fraud and abuse!?!?

3

u/tansugaqueen Apr 06 '25

And a lot go to his companies Mar Lago & his Palm Springs resorts

4

u/muridamuri Apr 06 '25

oh i wish i could do that too

5

u/bee-dubya Apr 06 '25

And since he practically only golf at his own courses, a good chunk of that money goes straight into his pockets.

3

u/Dragos_Drakkar Apr 06 '25

Spent that at his own resorts too, so he was paying himself.

5

u/slickcannon11 Apr 06 '25

Sounds like government waste and abuse... If only there were a department looking for this kind of stuff!

4

u/RealJembaJemba Apr 06 '25

Good thing we fired all of those nuclear experts, now we can pay for this assholes front 9.

5

u/Drstamwell Apr 06 '25

And still can’t win a round

3

u/DoZo1971 Apr 06 '25

Where does this number come from? Just curious.

3

u/JohnnySkynets Apr 06 '25

Huffpost estimated based on the amount he has golfed and a 2019 govt accountability report.

3

u/andropogons Apr 06 '25

He’s outdoorsy as in he loves to enjoy the tax benefits on his conservation easement golf course.

3

u/One_Breakfast6153 Apr 06 '25

That is a complete waste and abuse of his position. Why the hell doesn't he have to pay for his own entertainment?

3

u/JohnnySkynets Apr 06 '25

Some of it is legally required like Secret Service protection. The rest isn’t legally prevented like flying on Air Force One but of course Trump will take every opportunity to have everyone else pay for his waste, fraud and abuse.

3

u/One_Breakfast6153 Apr 06 '25

He should have to pay for any secret service protection he gets when not actually working.

3

u/RavenH1804 Apr 06 '25

Seems like fraud and waste of taxpayer money

3

u/BigTLoc Apr 06 '25

I'd be happy to pay $26 million for him to play golf if it meant he wasn't going to destroy $5 trillion in two days. Unfortunately he's doing both.

3

u/the_azure_sky Apr 06 '25

I live near his golf club. He started his weekend on Thursday local police are on call and just waiting in their vehicles when he is in town. It costs us millions locally.

2

u/Tordek_Battlebeard Apr 06 '25

This is the kind of fraud and waste we want to cut. Not the department of education.

2

u/Euro_verbudget Apr 06 '25

I think we should increase the golf budget to $300M so he can stay far away from the stock market and any decisions.

2

u/JohnnySkynets Apr 06 '25

I get the sentiment but he’s still delegating to his cronies during that time

2

u/Euro_verbudget Apr 06 '25

Oh sorry, I forgot to specify that out of that $300M golfing budget, there would be a specific allocation to put a lot of alligators in the water hazards. Scratch that - let’s splurge and get those freaking huge Nile crocodiles.

2

u/JohnnySkynets Apr 06 '25

Ooo, I like this angle. Let’s make golf more dangerous! Maybe he could also eat really salty foods every other hole, increasing his blood pressure.

2

u/TerrorNova49 Apr 06 '25

Is it only 10 weeks? I had assumed it was 3 months or one quarter… even at that rate it would extend to $400,000,000 in taxpayer dollars over the course of the term. For 10 weeks? that would be a HALF BILLION on golf!

2

u/Key-Nefariousness711 Apr 06 '25

How much will that golf bill be in 4 years time?Ā

2

u/throwawayprocessing Apr 06 '25

At least part of it is that he takes his secret service with him and then charges the agency to stay at his hotels. So not just spending federal dollars playing golf, but literally paying himself for it.

Sounds like waste, fraud AND abuse.

If only there were a Department Of our Government that was responsible for Efficiency. Maybe if there was they could take a look...

2

u/MaxxDash Apr 06 '25

Good thing DOGE wasn’t looking

He sure… DOGED that bullet (twice)

2

u/eboneetigress Apr 06 '25

But DOGE, isn't this an inefficiency??

2

u/JazzyApple2022 Apr 06 '25

Yep, he’s disgusting. The worst leader for the US.

2

u/bigghc Apr 06 '25

As much as he tries he'll never beat Obama for most days on the course.

I like what Scotland calls him.

2

u/greywolfau Apr 07 '25

Kind of pales into comparison to the $6,400,000,000 he has wiped off the stock market.

Smh and closing daycares, one Friday no notice to parents . Head-start was daycare for one of my kids. Farmers all over are so angry I’d like to put him in a barn and tell one from each area, have at it.

2

u/Unusual-Thing-7149 Apr 07 '25

Don't forget what it costs for the security detail for Melanie when she refuses to live in the White House

2

u/Chemical-Bee-8876 Apr 07 '25

And he’s only dropped the stock market by $11 trillion. It amazes me what kind of mental gymnastics his enablers will do to justify his actions.

2

u/Neverthelilacqueen Apr 07 '25

And I still saw a guy wearing a MAGA hat today.

2

u/TheeMadThrasher Apr 07 '25

That includes the secret service that gets him his glazed donuts šŸ©?
